Welcome to Great Adventure Outpost!

Great Adventure Updates and Great Adventure Insider have joined together to bring you the best Six Flags Great Adventure community on the web - Great Adventure Outpost!

Members of both the site teams have been working on this project for the better part of six months, and we are proud to finally unveil a website that we hope everyone enjoys, and many people come to visit again and again!

When creating this site, we wanted to take the best parts of both Updates and Insider and put them together. The result is the amazing community that Updates had, along with an advanced home page system to let you stay up to date on the park.

On the main page itself you can see the latest news, as well as (during the season) the current week's park hours, and the next 7 upcoming events/concerts at the park.

If you notice on the left you can view Park Photos and Videos that we have uploaded; you can get Park Information, such as events and concerts; you can stay up to date on what's new at the park with Construction Updates. During the season you can see the latest status of the coasters and flats at the park. And in our Attraction section you can view every attraction in the park, along with photos, ratings, reviews, and facts. And you know who gives us those ratings reviews and facts? You guys! You can submit all of that on any attraction you want!

But thats not all! See the GA | WS | HH tabs underneath the left side, the hours and the events? If you click them you can switch to get options and see information about the Wild Safari and Hurricane Harbor as well!

So what do you have to do here? If you are from Updates - Nothing! These are still your forums. If you are from Insider and did not have an account on Updates just register! I'm sure the community here will welcome your insights into conversations.

The GAInsider forums will be accessible via read-only access in the near future, for everyone to get in touch with the past.

The Outpost team would like to thank WadeJ, jglonek, rjholla, overlord and medieval for all the hard work they put into getting this site off the ground.

In the next few days we will be asking you guys to help us out with something. Stay tuned!

There is still much we want to add to this site, and we will do so in the coming months. In the meantime we hope you enjoy Great Adventure Outpost!

One thing that I'd love for everybody to checkout is the rating system.  For instance, if you go to the attractions section (http://www.gadvoutpost.com/home.php?action=attractions&park=ga&section=coasters) and click on the ride, you can give the ride a rating a write a quick review.  Also notice that it integrates with the ride status as to whether or not it is open or closed.

A LOT of work went into these features and it would be nice if we started collecting data for not only the GP that might run into our site but also for the park as they do poke around from time to time.

Plus, it's one of the many features that I think make Outpost stand out Smiley.

Is there any buttons to expand the site like the old gaupdates had in the upper right corner ?

^^No on the expand as far as I know right now. But do post that suggestion in the complaint/bugs/quirks topic and we can start trying to figure out a way for that.

It is Cory from over at Great Adventure Online wishing the best of luck for this site. It's great to see another site rejuvenated from the grave...well Gainsider that is haha. I knew Updates did have a great community before and hopefully you will expand much larger as well. Just like to let you know again that everyone at Great Adventure Online is hoping for the best.

The expand option isn't much of a priority right now.  If you notice in Chucks PTR as well as Dan's that were posted right before the migration, the photos will auto-adjust to fit in the post to prevent scrolling.  Currently, the site is set to look exactly the same in 1024x768 and above, which isn't easy since 1024 is so small. (yes, sadly folks still use that res!)

So while we will tinkerk with adding the feature for just in the forums area, other issues and upgrades are a higher priority right now.
