Six Flags Great Adventure welcomes rock bands Asia and Yes to the Northern Star Arena July 26, 2009.

I thought maybe Bizarro sent us back in time when I saw this on the events calendar!
Is Yes that cheap now that they are less one Jon Anderson?
Then again nobody here probably know who these two bands are.

It's official, I am old. I have an Asia Album on Vinyl. Asia would be a good show, I never was too crazy about Yes though, but wouldn't mind seeing them just to say i did.

If you guys want to here real Musicians and artistry see this show
YES is one of my Favorite bands,I love the "Close to The Edge" album

Steve Howe (the guitarist) Won Best Overall Guitarist in Guitar Player Magazine more years then any other Guitarist and any person that plays guitar knows his name  (Matt already chimed in)
Yes they band has been around since the 60's and they normally (or used to) sell out Stadiums and Arena.

The Lead Singer (Jon Anderson) will not be on this tour,I had tickets to last years tour but it was canceled due to Jons throat or Vocal problems (medical) ? He has a very unique voice.

Yes My older Brother told me about this weeks ago and he hasn't been to the park in 30 years so this will bring in some "Older crowds"
I remember seeing Ted Nugent and Heart back in the 80s at the park
So if anyone knows of any discounts or have park tickets to sell let me know
Thanks

Howe was voted "Best Overall Guitarist" in Guitar Player magazine five years in a row (1977 - 1981) and was inducted into Guitar Player's "Gallery of Greats" in 1981.[7] The only other two guitarists to win the "Best Overall Guitarist" category for the "Gallery Of Greats" are Steve Morse and Eric Johnson. Gibson Guitar Corporation, the maker of Howe's first electric guitar (which he was still playing forty years later), said that Howe "elevated rock guitar into an art form" and "helped define a new style of music known as art rock."

I was there for the Nugent Show back then. Molly Hatchett, Cheap Trick and even The Charlie Daniels Band. One show I will never forget was Golden Earring. I was in the Castle that night, we left to go see the Concert, when we got there you could see the smoke. We just made it out in time. We were in it for about an hour in the "Cavern" scaring all the Girls coming thru. I am glad they were in Concert that night, very glad.

Wow Railer...I was at that Golden Earring concert too that horrible evening.
I remember getting free tickets on the way out that I was never allowed to use.

And I'll admit I  used to wait in line to buy Yes concert tickets at Ticketmaster.
They really do put on a great show..But I haven't hear the new singer yet.
I never got to see ASIA so here is my chance.

Sounds like we may need an Outpost outing to this show.

I remember the Free Tix. and all the Helicopter Spotlight's overhead. I will never forget the singer saying  "looks like a really big Barbecue here at Six Flags tonite" Only if he knew at the time.

Wheelchair = front of the line/stage
THe Ted Nugent Show was wild  Afro
it was about 96 degrees that day   Huh?
people walking around with no shirts on in the show everyone started throwing plastic cups in the air hundreds of them like a cafeteria food fight sweaty, wet, sticky (wait that was last night) Tongue nah
we had to park all the way in the back almost in the last row near the woods it was that crowded and this was when the Lot was bigger (no Scream machine or Superman)
this was the case a few times.People used to drink Beer (tailgate) out of their trunks during concerts like this Until they added the security tower. Embarrassed
We had season passes (about the same price as today) A friend and myself used to meet up with the same two girls every few weeks for some hanky panky LOL
I think i have one of those keyhole picture viewer of them someplace
that must have been 1985 of so

yes and no Cell phones back then  Shocked

It's funny. I work right by the Arena in Camden. On Fri. the Black Eyed Peas were playing there. I missed my Train so I figured i'd walk over to next stop, right in the Parking Lot of the Arena. I figured there would be people partying and whatnot. Not a single person. It was a bunch of people sitting around their Cars Texting. It was weird.

It seems Yes found a suitable lead singer in Benoit David.
Still sad to not see Jon Anderson up there.
The interview is really worth a watch if you are a fan.

I'd like to go. Never done a concert there, but Bubba says I just have to show up to the theater and no ticket necessary right?

No ticket is necessary.
It is supposed to be in the arena by Bizarro.

Last show I saw there was ages ago.
Let me know if you decide to make the trip.

We actually lucked out given the weather war that was going on around us.  AVMatt showed up....where were you Tom??
It only rained for about a minute during the start of the Asia set, but they did end up closing the park early and cut the Yes set short.
I really expected the to close down sooner, so I am happy that Yes got to play what little they did.
Steve Howe has to have the quote of the night with: "That my friends is death." While pointing at the lightning.
It was great to see that great talent on the stage at Six Flags.  Amazing!!

For those that care here is what was played:
[Notice the ELP and King Crimson in there!!  Grin  And you have to love a good drum solo!!]

Asia
Wildest Dreams
Only Time will Tell
An Extraordinary Life
Video killed the Radio Star (Buggles)
In the Court of the Crimson King (King Crimson)
The Smile has left your Eyes
Don’t Cry
Fanfare for the Common Man (Emerson, Lake and Palmer)
Soul Survivor
Heat of the Moment

Yes
Firebird Suite
Siberian Khatru
I’ve Seen All Good People
Tempus Fugit
Roundabout
