A few months ago, I saw the greatest picture of El Toro ever.  This photo perfectly epitomized the insanity of the ride.  It was a close-up of the back car cresting the second hill.  Since it was close up, you could see a 4-5" gap between the wheel and track.  Unfortunately, I have been unable to find this picture after originally viewing it.  I have searched dozens of coaster forums and trip reports, but I cannot find it.  If you have seen this picture, you know how great it is!

Does anyone know where I can find the link to this picture?  Thanks.

Never saw that but with the amount some of us visit the park, I guess we could just take another. Now I'm curious to see how far it lifts up lol. I'm guessing it's more like 1-2 though.

Btw - welcome to Outpost Smiley.

I always liked this photo from Chuck.
There is no train but it still lets you know what the bull is up to!

I'll have to see if it still looks this way on my next trip.

Bubba Z, the user "hanno" has zero posts on TPR.  Can you be more specific or provide the link if you know it?  Thanks.

Actually many wood coasters do that on some hills.

That makes it not look safe. Shouldn't the car hace an underwheel so it doesn't fly off? Is that even possible?

Yes, it does have upstop wheels to prevent it from coming off.  That's why you don't come off, lol.  It's not required for the upstops to be tight to the rails though.

You wouldn't want the upstops tight to the track on a wooden coaster.  Think of the force it takes to lift that train into the air, you want at least some of that force absorbed by the train.  If the upstops were tight all that force would transfer to the track and greatly increase the wear.  Wooden tracks are not designed to take significant upward load.

/\ He's alive!  Seriously though - that's exactly right. And most of you have probably heard that sound it makes going over the hills which is simply the train riding on the upstops.

That makes perfect, sense- that way you get air-time, abd it doesn't wear.
