Remember, to clear up any confusion, you have 24 hours to make your pick AFTER the previous persons pick. So, if B-Mac goes at 5 PM tomorrow (Tuesday), dkny will have until 5 PM the next day (Wednesday) to make a pick. IF dkny picks earlier than his end time, say 1 PM Wednesday, then the Wade will have until 1 PM Thursday, ect. If you have any questions ask Cheesy

You may start picking at 3 PM.

Here is a list of already picked rides.

Ask your self this. If you could be transported to any park on earth, to ride any coaster on earth just once. Where would you go?

Would you go to Indiana to ride the Voyage, the #1 wood coaster? No, you could go there anytime with little trouble. You Probably already have.

Would you go to ride Bizarro?? The world's # 1 steel coaster? No, you've probably already done that too.

Would you go to Germany and ride G-force? Maybe, but you've been on ride similar to this one.

I'm sure if you gave it a good amount of thought all of you would either choose this coaster, or at least consider it.

Imagine yourself approaching this station...

Recognize it??

What about now...

Imagine swooping through these trees in the dark!

#2 Steel Coaster on Hawkers pool, and undisputed #1 suspended coaster on earth
EAGLE FORTRESS!

no disrespect BBW

as a side note I realize it's SBNO, but on RCDB it's listed as operated in Jan of 09. Smiley

Very nice. I was torn between choosing this one and Big Bad Wolf, but Wolf is such a special ride to me, I had to honor it.

My origional plan was to let the wolf, and Fortress go... then in the later rds pick up Vortex. Even though it's a huge drop off, it would be a killer sleeper. But when EF droped to the 3rd rd. and I was picking 2nd I knew I couldn't pass it up.

Does anybody know yet if it's ever going to re-open or not?

No idea on its future, but it was mentioned before it closed that it was running beyond its design speed and causing major maintenance issues. If it reopens, it will likely be slowed down, which will kill everything that made it the number 2 steel coaster in the world. Kind of like putting trims on Tsunami/J2/HelLCat. Roll Eyes

They should run it at 40 mph all year, and once a year have an event and run it full board. Then Enthusiests would have a set date to visit, knowing it will be open, running, and running fast.

Kind of like Expedition Ge-Force. It gets special treatment when Alvey and others show up just so it stays ranked high.

Question... Voyage, RF2, and Hades are all designed and I presume built by GG. Fireball, and Bullet are designed by GG, but listed as built by Martin & Vleminckx Group. Does this group build GG coasters with wood supports, are they all built by them and just 2 are listed? Whats the deal, also whats the reasoning? Is it about location, time constaints, the supports? I'm stumped on this one.

Nice pics by all.

TGG is primarily a consulting engineering firm. They design the ride and leave it to someone else to "build" it. However it recently came to my attention that they have the ability to do re-tracking now, but I'm not sure if they out-source that on a case by case basis or they actually have a dedicated team for that. Apparently they won the bid for re-tracking Cheetah at Wild Adventures, GA (GCI was supposed to do it).

M&V is a builder and also does re-tracking jobs (Timber Wolf at Worlds of Fun for example). Not sure if it's a coincidence that they've only built the two GG's that were all wood or not. The other coasters with steel frames were built "by others" as we say in the engineering business.

As for WHY build some with wood supports and some with steel supports? TGG have said there are benefits to both and it's up to the client to decide except sometimes the steel is necessary for space issues. With the steel structure, they don't have to have as wide of supports on the tall hills. I prefer the wood "look", but the steel offers less maintenance to the structure (some argue it increases wear on the wooden track bed though), yet I believe it is more expensive than the wood structure. Voyage was reportedly built as steel because they wouldn't have to cut as many trees down and they felt the extreme nature of the ride would be handled better by the lower maintenance steel structure. Ravine Flyer II has all sorts of environmental concerns on its site. They had to use steel to minimize the amount of footers. There are several "bridges" in its structure that straddle the terrain because they were not able to plant supports everywhere they wanted to.

Thats Ironic then that the two with wood supports are listed and the other 3 are not.. Also that the 3 with steel supports are much more highly regarded (so far).

So as Sara Pallin would say a bunch of "Joe Six Packs" built the steel ones. Were these men "Mavericks"? lol

Pretty Hardcore answer I must admit.

I've heard nothing but super positive reviews of Fireball and just watching the POV, I can tell it would be a hard core Matt coaster and most definitely better than Hades and Ravine Flyer II. Both of those are great rides, but overrated IMO. I have yet to bite the Bullet yet, so I can only go off my friends' reviews of the Kemah woodie--I would love the first half and be let-down by the second half.
