I know it's been a bit quiet this off-season as far as updates go. Quite honestly, there really hasn't been much to show everyone and for the majority of the off-season the park has been covered in snow.  I'd also like to point out that the park has been doing an amazing holding us over through their Facebook updates.  I know I personally enjoyed the snow updates!

With that said, Six Flags doesn't let things slip anymore.  Every single year has seen drastic improvements in everything from buildings and walkways to things we don't see such as wiring and infrastructure.  So while this update may not excite everyone, it is still awesome to see just how much is going on and even more amazing is that it will all be wrapped up in 3-4 weeks for park opening!

As always, THANK YOU to the awesome staff at Great Adventure and of course, the PR department Smiley.

Now onto the photo update Cheesy:

We'll start with the painting projects that are going on.  I have a feeling some of the fresh paint may stir a bit of controversy lol

Both buildings pictures here received fresh paint (before somebody asks, the car won't be there when the park opens!)

I didn't pick the colors and I'm not sure they did either but the new super hero store colors don't blend in with main street very well IMO

While these shops have just as crazy color choices, I think they look much better!

Another...

Games buildings received some fresh paint as well and look great!

It's the little things that make a difference

Even the bathroom got some TLC

Our last paint update is Big Wheel Deals

Our next update features some of the work being done to simply improve the guest experience.  I saw many sidewalks being pressure washed and even some sidewalks being replaced.

We'll start with Wild Side Pizza.  It's been moved to a MUCH better location.  I also hear that it should be much more like "normal" Papa Johns.  I'm sure many of you noticed that the crust was rather different.

Here is it's new home which has a bigger kitchen and can handle larger lines

The fact that new sidewalks makes me happy is a constant reminder of how much of a theme park geek I am.  This is great to see though!

Another angle showing the part that hasn't been ripped up yet

More sidewalk work but for different reasons.  This is related to some infrastructure work going on.  Notice the new utility shed as well.

Apparently the indoor mini golf is being converted to some sort of bowling.  Hopefully we'll have more details on what this is soon.

Now onto some major ride refurbishments starting with the stations for Runaway Mine Train and the SkyWay.

MUCH needed work being done!

This angle even shows the roof is missing.

These new beams will be painted once again to match the structure.

Close up

Being a regular rider of the Skyway, I can attest to the poor condition the stairway was in before!

The new walls were being painted elsewhere while I was there.

This new lumber was already painted but notice the new wood under the openings.

I'm not sure if this will be painted blue again but it looks great!

Another angle.

OMG THEY ARE TAKING OUT TWISTER.... Nope, just a major rehab Smiley

More parts being worked on. Hopefully it can run a normal program again if the hold brake is working!

YAY! Rolling Thunder getting some TLC Cheesy

Fresh wood!  And I can remember a bad pothole here lol

ZOOM

The Fling is getting some love as well this off-season Smiley

Another update in a few moments...

And finally, just a few random pictures from the park Smiley

Well, at least they didn't take the sign down yet  Afro

Makes you realize how hard the weather hit the park this winter.

Runaway barge!

Zoomed out to give you an idea of how far away it was.

I'm guessing this isn't sticking around...

And finally, just in case you were able to get this out of your head since the first post, here it is again  Shocked

As you can see, a lot of work goes into getting the park ready each off-season.  While there is not a fancy new ride being installed there is a still a ton of money being spent elsewhere on very worthwhile things.

A few other tidbits:

The Tiger Show, Dolphin Show and the Bugs Bunny show are all being updated, season pass processing is being moved over to the old Alcatraz location between Superman and GASM and Fly Me To The Moon is gone - but hopefully with a "work in progress for your future enjoyment" sign going up soon Smiley.

And finally, not much has changed with the Tornado since it doesn't even need to be ready until May.  Plus we'll all be able to see progress on it once the park opens later this month Smiley.

Hope you enjoyed the update!

Nice Wade, thanks to you and PR! I can't wait to see the Fort in person, it's looking really good! I am glad RT continues to get TLC, it means it isnt going anywhere anytime soon! The building paint is well um, bright but, it will wake that area up a bit lol.

As shocking as it is in pictures, it's much more in person. No one can say they missed that store that season!

Yes, that store was called Jersey Girls last season.

*edit*
Oh, you mean Jersey Shore CANDIES! That's been there for years.

I hate the name of that store. It's confusing if they want to have a Boardwalk-themed area. Why couldn't it just be "Fantasy Candy" or something like that?

Fantasy Candy?

Why does that remind me of Ecstasy?

Too much of a drug connection, if you ask me...

Golf Clap... Job well done again by Wade and our friends at PR .. I have been ready for the season since JAN !! We are really looking forward to another year in the park .

The paint is bright  Shocked  But I kind of like it . I dont know if it fits with the area but it is eye catching and well bright colors are suppose to make customers happy .

I LOVE that Rolling Thunder is getting some love and that there are going to be updated shows for the tigers and dolphins . I cant wait to see the Fort with the new Wood added and fixed at Runaway Train .

I will NOT miss Fly Me to the Moon but it was nice to go on if it was raining and we were waiting out a storm .. That is the only reason to go on . Hopefuly they can get a better movie or do something else with the building . Maybe they will build something for next season in there .. kind of like a Darkastle thing or Spiderman thing .. Just a SUGGESTION for anyone who may want to know a good idea .

Looking forward to March 27th .  Grin... just hope the weather holds up now !!!

Yay for RT getting TLC!!!

Do you think it would ever be possible to get a group together for an off-season tour?  We've been to other area parks during the off-season, but never GA.  I'd love the be able to see the park up close and personal during the off-season.

Keep on topic guys Smiley.  A lot of guests read updates like this and won't have any idea what you are talking about.  I have a feeling we'll know more about the fly me to the moon theater soon Wink.

According to screamscape, it was confirmed on their facebook page that it is gone for the 2010 season.

It is also not listed on their rides page.

Maybe if you had a Facebook you could check Wink

But let me see.

I just did a quick check and didn't see anything on their page, but I might have missed it. Regardless I really don't expect Fly Me to the Moon to be there this season, and it's for the best.
