Six Flags Great Adventure decided to close the Great American Scream Machine on July 18th to make way for a new coaster in 2011. To make sure that the new coaster is ready for opening day, the park first needs to remove Scream Machine as fast as possible, and then they need to prepare the site for the new attraction. Expect the pieces of the coaster to come, and even possibly construction to begin, by Fright Fest. (This construction photo of Ka from Fright Fest 2004 is still one of my favorites).

While there has been no official announcement of what the 2011 coaster will be, it's widely believed to be Chang from the former Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, which closed last year. Chang was supposed to be set up at Six Flags Great America in Chicago next year, but plans changed at the last minute. Chang is a B&M stand-up coaster, which would make it a unique attraction at the park.

We will be following the construction of the 2011 coaster all season long. Check back here frequently for updates!

Heres the Crane that was there earlier although it didn't do much today.
There were people walking up and down the stairs most of the time I watched.
Ka is back up, it was down all morning and tested around 3:30, then finally started loading people around 4.

August 3rd - Clint

So I made another trip out to the park yesterday just to see if they took down anything since I had no report of what they were doing. Unfortunately (or fortunately for some of you haha) there was no visible changes so makes me think it was just ground work/clean up. But I was able to snag some shots of coasters remaining loop and the bottom of the drop. Also there is a crane just chillen' right by the bushes now so we shall see if that was from the Kingda Ka repairs or for the Funstruction. I will be heading out to the park tomorrow before I head down to Wildwood for the weekend. Click the pics below for larger views!

So we got a photo sent in to us from one our members out at the park today. Everything after the first loop is now gone. Compared to other days, its been slow in deconstruction but steadily the ride is coming down. Check out the pic below!

Hey guys! I made another trip out to the park tonight to supply you guys with up to date photos and reviews. We had some great contributions from a few of our members earlier in the day but I still went to get you some HD Videos and Photos. I will be uploading the video probably tomorrow or so but let me tell you, in person, that is a very big lot that GASM occupied.

Hey guys! I am back from the park and I have uploaded all my new media content to my computer but not all of it to online yet. I have ALOT of footage of Scream Machine so I will put all that together tomorrow and show it off to you guys. The skyride offers one of the best views in the park. I took a trip out to the park last night around 6:30PM (because I have to work during the day ughhh) and this what I captured so far. Its quite a horrifying site to see because its just raw metal to them. It was interesting to hear many park goers pass by and say how it was their first roller coaster and remember their childhood days. Its a sad site seeing this park staple go but its just business I guess? None the less, heres the video!

I don't have any pictures since it's only visible when you're on Rolling Thunder, but GASM's trains are currently stored in the middle of RT's track area.

I doubt the park would set up a web cam. If they wanted to I am sure they would have done it already, and they have the perfect spot too on top of the parachutes.

Not much has happened. They are still working on the lift.
