SIX FLAGS GREAT ADVENTURE AND CURE KIDS CANCER JOIN FORCES FOR ?A WALK IN THE PARK?

Jackson, NJ ? Six Flags Great Adventure will host Six Flags Friends, the philanthropic arm of Six Flags, Inc., and Cure Kids Cancer for ?A Walk in the Park,? Sept. 7.  The organizations will work together in an effort to raise public awareness and funding for childhood cancers.  12 Six Flags Parks will hold ?A Walk In The Park? fundraiser on Sept. 6 or 7.  During this weekend, millions of steps will be taken towards a goal of $200,000 to help find cures for pediatric cancers.

Elizabeth ?Pearce? Quesenberry will serve as the ambassador for Six Flags Great Adventure?s walk. Pearce is 11 years old and is currently undergoing cancer treatments at the Children?s Hospital of Philadelphia.  She will serve as the voice and the face for more than 10,000 children who will be diagnosed with cancer this year, the tens of thousands who are undergoing treatments and the hundreds of youth who are forever coined "cancer survivors."

"Cure Kids Cancer is honored to be working with Six Flags Friends to generate resources to help hospitals and physicians find better treatments and hopefully someday a cure for pediatric cancers," said Jami Brinton, Director of Cure Kids Cancer. "As a cancer survivor myself, I strongly believe children should be able to experience all the joys of childhood without having to worry a diagnosis of cancer may dampen their greatest dreams."

Six Flags Great Adventure is not only opening its gates to Cure Kids Cancer, but is asking guests to open their hearts, embrace the cause and to fight the battle on behalf of sick children in their own neighborhoods.

"Six Flags Great Adventure is proud to be partnered with Cure Kids Cancer to host ?A Walk in the Park,? said Mark Kane, Park President of Six Flags Great Adventure, Wild Safari and Hurricane Harbor.  ?We hope to bring further awareness and to support children and families that are affected by cancer.?

Guests can register at walkintheparks.org for $25.  All guests that raise $250 will get a free ticket to the park.  Guests may also register on Sept. 7 at Six Flags Great Adventure beginning at 8 a.m.  The walk will kick off at 9 a.m. at the main gate with a performance by the Six Flags Thrilleaders.  For more information visit sixflags.com.

On a personal note...

This is the first time Six Flags has attempted to host this particular walk.  They need support and walkers.  It's only $25 and for a VERY good cause!

Send it to your non-season passholder friends and family as well.  Anybody who registers for $25 can stay at the park for half price for the remainder of the day!
