Title: Kentucky Kingdom is back!
Post by: dkny6363 on February 24, 2012, 12:42:11 PM
Just though someone should make a forum out of this one before the chat box gets temp. forum status.

So I didn't read the article about this but if I have it right they are investing 15-20 mil to get it up and running... When I first heard about this potential "takeover" I thought no biggie if it goes good "great" if not they will bail. However right off the hop if HW has no major attractions planned for 2013 everyone is going to be on them about spending there money on KK. In theory KK will be able to support it self once it's up and running. But this initial large investment might have people a little worried.

I tried to think of a scheduale for HWN that would included Bluegrass Boardwalk, and makes the weeekend better. But I don't think it works... Unless you added an optional starlight add-on for thursday night. Or perhaps a friday afternoon option. Anything that takes away night rides on fri, or sat would be a dissaster.

Last thing was I noticed that drinks, lotion, and tubes will all be free at BB. Thumbs up!

wonder if any of that money will be put into getting a new coaster or two since there is only 4 standing there now that im sure will need some repair.

IMO - 15-20 million is not a lot of money to work with.  I can easily see them going through that just to get the existing rides back in running shape and general park repairs and cleanup.  Remember, the stores, eateries, water park, and everything else has been sitting there rotting away for nearly 3 years.  If I had to guess, I'd think the wooden coasters alone will easily eat up 5 million.

So for 2013, I can see a minor flat ride of some sort or a small addition to the water park.  Otherwise, the rest of that money is probably already spent.

Still great news though and I was already thinking of a way to add this to HWN as well lol.  This also firms up that I have zero intention of visiting Indiana in 2012.

Grizzly is better than El Toro. The tunnel alone wins!
