this is what we can expect to see in Vegas by the end of the year
500' Ferris wheel   http://www.caesars.com/thelinq/ (http://www.caesars.com/thelinq/)

and some info on another Giant Wheel  http://www.vegaschatter.com/tag/Ferris%20Wheels (http://www.vegaschatter.com/tag/Ferris%20Wheels)

Caesars Entertainment is redefining the iconic Las Vegas skyline with The LINQ, an open-air retail, dining and entertainment district, anchored by the world's tallest observation wheel, known as the High Roller. Located at the heart of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, the LINQ will span more than 200,000-square-feet of gross leasable space and feature more than 30 unique retail, dining and entertainment experiences.

The High Roller observation wheel will be the focal point of the unique urban entertainment district. Topping out at 550 feet and measuring 520 feet in diameter, the High Roller will eclipse both the London Eye and Singapore Flyer. Facing north and south (parallel to Las Vegas Boulevard), the wheel will feature 28 glass-enclosed cabins that will unveil broad views of the famed-resort city in the 30 minutes it takes to complete one full revolution. Each cabin will accommodate up to 40 people and will be available for individual or group experiences.

The LINQ is scheduled to make its debut in late 2013.

30 minutes for a single trip around? That's quite the long time to make out! O0

Ridiculous enough to probably not happen, given Las Vegas's recent record.

It's under construction and pretty well along, it's happening. Glad they stripped the old facade from Imperial Palace.  It's starting to look better already. That area is already a hot property being so close to the busy area of the strip. I just hope they Skyvue gets finished and Speed gets put back up.
