Title: Poler Coasters and Insane Slides
Post by: jglonek on November 20, 2013, 11:22:46 AM
So two interesting things popped up recently.

First, this water slide in Kentucky. Yeaah. I think I'll pass on ever riding that thanks!

And then there is news from Screamscape of a 520ft version of a Poler Coaster (never heard of it until I looked it up) coming to central Florida? That could be interesting.

I'm confused on how the poler coaster works - I see the trains go up on the red track, but there is also an elevator - do guests ride up to the top to get on?

It's a combo observation tower and rollercoaster.  I believe one is currently being built in Vegas as well?

Does that water slide require a raft?
Raft or No raft.... I don't think so!  Crazy.

They apparently have never been to Action Park lol  The bottom of that drop will destroy peoples neck and back and THEN you get to go back up and go airborne over a bunny hill LOL

It's a 4 person tube apparently, which I think makes it even worse!

So you could possibly be going down that drop backwards?
That shouldn't even be legal!

The Poler Coaster take 24 months to complete.  It sounds like building a skyscraper. Hopefully they will build one in the middle of NYC someday.
As soon as you get to the top it flips you upside down!  This will be interesting.

Why do I feel like someone is going to shoot off that slide.

Somehow I missed the mention of the slide being a 4-person tube. I feel anxious just looking at that picture.

Will this new Polar Coaster officially be taller than Ka? If so, that would be bad news for Great Adventure and Six Flags, right?

They can still market it as the fastest roller coaster in the western hemisphere. NBD IMO, especially with how (relatively) uninspiring the two coasters that beat the individual records are. Also, I doubt that people are less excited about TTD simply because Kingda Ka exists.

I might be going to Kansas City for a work trip in early May, if it's open by then I'm doing it!
