PTR Conneaut/Waldameer/Geauga 8/25/07

Back in the beginning of the year when we planned this trip, this day was going to be spent at Conneaut Lake.  Unfortunately, the park never opened so we had to visit Waldameer and Geauga Lake instead.  We still decided to stop by Conneaut to see what was going on.  We've always enjoyed our visits there and hope to see them reopen.  They were mowing the grass when we were there so they are still taking care of the grounds.

Various park shots:

Since we had already been to Waldameer previously and ridden everything, this was just a quick stop to ride Steel Dragon which was new since our last visit.  We only took one ride, but based on that ride, we like Whirlwind at Seabreeze much better.  We got lots of spinning action on Whirlwind, but Waldemeer's version hardly spun at all.

Ravine Flyer construction:

Our next stop was Geauga Lake.  Although we enjoyed the park when it was Six Flags, it's now gone downhill.  Operations were horrible and the park just wasn't very well maintained.  Even though the park is supposed to be non-smoking, people were smoking all over the place and nothing was being done about it.  The only rides that we rode were Big Dipper, Villian, Double Loop, and Dominator.  We were expecting the worst on Big Dipper and Villian, but they were actually quite a bit better than we remembered.

We looked all over, but we just couldn't find this ride.   :D

Steel Venom remains:
