Six Flags Wins Two Prestigious Industry 'Best of the Best' Golden Ticket Awards

Thursday September 6, 9:00 am ET
More Top 50 Selections for Best Roller Coasters Than Any Other Theme Park Company in the World

-- Six Flags announced today that Amusement Today, the nation's leading theme park industry publication, has awarded the company two coveted 2007 Golden Ticket Awards. Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Awards annually rank the "Best of the Best" in the leisure entertainment industry.

Six Flags has once again received top honors for the industry's Best Steel Coaster -- SUPERMAN Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England, the third win for this perennial favorite -- and the industry's Best Shows at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Six Flags Fiesta Texas has received this honor for an unprecedented nine consecutive years. These coveted awards, often referred to as "The Oscars of the Amusement Industry," are voted on by a panel of experts and enthusiasts from across the country.

In 2007, Six Flags parks continue to lead the industry in innovation and guest satisfaction, securing Top Five placements in six different categories: Best Shows (Golden Ticket Award Winner Six Flags Fiesta Texas); Best Marine Life Park (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom); Best New Ride/Waterpark (Deluge, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom); Best Waterpark Ride (Deluge, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom); Best Outdoor Night Show Production (Six Flags Fiesta Texas); and Best Carousel (Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags Great America).

"Six Flags, as always, did itself proud this year," said Tim Baldwin, Golden Tickets Communications Coordinator for Amusement Today. "In addition to the wins for Superman and Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Deluge was a masterpiece in innovation for the waterparks. I think many parks will look at the success of this dynamic attraction. There are many uphill waterslides out there, but none use the amazing technology seen on Deluge. It's brilliant."

Baldwin went on to say "Look for El Toro to storm the charts even higher next year. It more than doubled its points this year and is fast becoming the hottest must-get-to wooden coaster on the planet!"

Six Flags also earned 11 of the top 25 spots on the list of the industry's Top Wooden and Steel Roller Coasters.

"We are honored and extremely grateful to theme park fans around the country for their enthusiasm and continued support of Six Flags," said Mike Antinoro, Six Flags Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Marketing. "Their recognition indicates that we are moving the company in the right direction -- maintaining our status as the nation's thrill ride leader while at the same time delivering the very best family-friendly entertainment. To our guests, we say stay along for the ride, because it's going to keep getting better."

Six Flags, Inc. is the world's largest regional theme park company. Founded in 1961, Six Flags celebrated its 45th Anniversary in 2006. Six Flags, Inc. is a publicly traded corporation (NYSE: SIX - News) headquartered in New York City.

I can see Six Flags grabbing top honors next season on both steel and wood.  IMO, the fact that many enthusiasts feel El Toro isn't true wood is what has held it back but it looks to be winning many over.
