Glow In The Park Parade

Glow In The Park Parade - Confirmed - (1/16/08) We?ve got some new details about the new Glow In The Park parade being created for Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Mexico. The parade is being created by Gary Goddard Entertainment who is working with Raul Rodriguez to design the floats (known for his work with the Rose Parade floats) and the music score for the parade is being created by Benoit Jutras, a composer known to Cirque du Soleil fans for his work on O (Bellagio), La Nouba (WDW), Mystere (Treasure Island) as well as Dragone?s La Reve (Wynn). The night time parade will feature five major floats covered in lights and a cast full of singers, dancers, stilt-walkers, puppets and much more.

Only 5 floats?  I hope they are spaced out, lol.  I was thinking more like 8-10.
Peep the concept, you've got progress, you've got congress
We protest in hopes they confess, just proceed on your conquest

Five floats?

I sure hope they don't overpromote and overhype this thing...

Me thinks it might have something to do with finding enough talent for this parade.  It will be worth the hype though.

Btw - open auditions are March 9th and 16th from 12 to 4 at showcase theatre if you wish to be a part of this parade :)

Looks pretty cool. I wonder if we will get a Batman float like that too. It is very cool looking.

I still think if done right, without budget cuts, this has potential to be the sleeper hit of the 2008 season.

My main concern is crowd control.  Those performers don't need morons jumping in and trying to trip them or throw crap at them.  Disney has this mastered with ropes, tape and tons of CM's doing crowd control so hopefully they try something like that.

Very cool and probably even better in person :D

Oh, gadvwow, in response to your "only" 5 floats comment, I'm not too worried now after seeing that.  It seems heavy in performers between floats along with many mini-syle vehicles that aren't really floats which is very similar to Spectro-Magic.  What concerns me is that the filler performers between the floats are easy cuts or easy to do without when the weather is bad or when people are sick, etc. so maybe every performance won't be as good as the next.

That's a cool video Tom. The opinions on screamscape are the reason why I don't use that site. It seems like a place run by 15 yr olds getting info from their 16 yr old newhire ride employee friends.
Prepare to weather the storm!

I'll say what I did last year - sleeper hit of the year.

This is one of the best things Six Flags has done in a loooonnnggg time.  And they had some guts trying to tackle such a huge project.

Yes, VERY Disney. :D

I saw part of the parade the other week and took some pictures with my cell phone because I didn't have my camera with me. I know they are crappy, but I might as well share them. It was really cool and the music was actually loud enough to hear throughout the parade.

Next trip for us I am bringing my Camera . My son loves the Batman float. I have to say we went for a late visit last Friday with my sister in law and her daughter . Her daughter is 3 almost 4 and that kid doesn't sit for anything . Well she loved the parade. I also have to say it is very amusing to see people stand and wait for a parade in SFGADV. It sort of had that Disney feel . I think it is a great addition . NOW the million dollar question is will they keep it ?

If they do keep it, which I say they should, they definitely need to add more floats and characters. It was definitely like the Disney Electric Parade in concept, just needs to be fine tuned is all.
