PTR: Clementon Park 6/22/08
« on: June 22, 2008, 10:05:57 PM »
Well -- for my first time in over ten years I suppose I visited Clementon Park. It was for these Girl Scout event and my sister is in it so I got in for free with it. Lets just say this about the park, you can basically fit the park in Great Adventure's Parking Lot, and still have room to park. Out of all the rides, at least eight of them where closed. The park is over crowded and looked more like a Carnival then a amusement park.

Hell Cat, or whatever it was called was the only ride I rode for the entire day there. I rode it nine times, but it was indeed one of the most PAINFUL roller coasters I've ever rode. I can't imagine what it would be like without the trimming, but it was up there with some of the worst rides in history. I also grew annoyed at them saying it was Steepest Drop on a Woodie in America..

Now to pictures.

Greeted with some rides in the parking lot.... coming soon?

Looks like fun but.. I'll soon learn my lesson..

The station is WAYYYYYYY up there, and a pain in the butt to climb up all those stairs.

Grrrrrrr, I'm the Clemodog, get away from my coaster or I will bite you with my fiberglass!

No lines... or wait the park hasn't opened yet!

This is the only true nice area in the park.

Just in case you forgot where we are. ;)

Closed #2

This park is CHEAP! Literally, like almost Knoebels cheap. Except for the fact that Knoebels is a amazing park.

HEY SIX FLAGS!

Dear god, time to ride Identity Crisis: The Ride

The lazy river opened around 1PM today.
The log flume and the ferris wheel have yet to open.
The train has been opened since opening day, it experienced problems yesterday, and will be open in a few days.
The Clementon Bell should be opening very soon as well.

Depending on where you sit, hellcat isn't as rough as you portrayed it to be.
The kids in that picture look like they're having fun to me.

The park is the cleanest it has ever been that I can remember.  It is just a matter of keeping it clean when people are too lazy to look for trash cans.

There was nothing that could have been done about jack rabbit.  There was an attempt made to salvage it but to no avail.

Don't take your camera on the rides again.

^My first time at the park in ten years.. I was five so you have to understand my reasoning for being bothered with some things.

How come the Log Flume and Ferris Wheel have yet to open? I really was looking forward to ride them. And I am assuming the Clementon Bell is the ferry? I never actually saw the Lazy River open, so sorry if it did. My bad. :D

And I am spoiled by coasters, Hellcat really did hurt me though but like I said, I am not in a liking with rough woodies.

And the park to me, I guess it is cleaner then the home video I have from the 90s, but it still to me isn't park-clean yet. Though I admit, if they keep the rest of the park like they did with that new area, I'll have hopes.

And I know the story of Jack Rabbit but you have to admit it is sad to see a coaster go.

My camera was never "actually" on a ride. The two pictures of Hellcat where actually taken while crossing over to put my camera in the bin.

Please respect this is my opinion on the day; its a nice park but I didn't have a good visit. That happens sometimes with guests, and it wasn't my day. And Hellcat to me wasn't enjoyable, but I am sure for others it is. We all have different opinions.

Horay for one less person in line in front of me for Tsunami!!!

That TR might take the crown of being the most negative TR ever. Sure the park isn't "spectacular" by any means, but what were you honestly expecting? You must've read the TR's stating that the coaster was rough/aggressive, you must've seen Chris post a few times saying that the Flume hadn't opened yet, you must've seen the very small list of rides that the park actually has on their website... I can go on and on.

Sorry you had such a bad day, but was saying "ouch" on EVERY Tsunami photo needed?

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

Good thing he never rode it in past years because it is smoother now then it has been in years. And just imagine if he rode it without trims!

Oh and thats the worst picture of me ever and needs to come down. :P

I rode it nine times

^ Why?

You do realize the last time money was put into the park was for Tsunami. Larry gave up  on the park a long time ago. I'm very happy the park was sold. At least the owners are trying to make a difference. It might be baby steps right now, but at least they are willing to take them. I see things that need improvement too, but I would never bash a park that hard. After all .....

The lick? And I understand about the parks past and everything with that, don't get me wrong. I just had a "unpleasant" visit in the park. I am sure I had a off day but with a trip report it is when you share what happens. I put my opinion in this. And I am sure it is smoother, but I told you I'm spolied of rides that are smooth. :P

And I am going to be truthful, I haven't followed Clementon Park at all except about hearing the ride's name changes. I didn't know about the flume or anything about that going into the park.

I think the park is getting better not worse.
Yes there are rides that SHOULD BE OPEN and when they are it won't seem as crowed but on any given Summer Sunday it will be crowded.

Yes this was a very Negative report
I myself LOVE coasters that are rough as many others do. You should have rode it the year it opened  :)
Maybe they can buld a "kiddie coaster" for those that don't like Riding Tsunami more then 9 TIMES  ;).

I'm taking my mother in-law and her grand kids AFTER they get more rides open.
But the park is going in the right direction but with new owners it will take time.
And all the Photos I see of the riders on the coaster all have Smiles on their face  :)
to me this ride gets better the more I ride in in a row

HHmmm you rode it 9 times
and you think it sucks ?

Medusa when will they be running 2 trains ?

All I am saying is that if you don't like "rough" coasters, Then don't get high hopes for Gravity Group, CCI, or other S&S woodies...

Josh, I can remember describing Clementon in the same way, but I think Great Adventure can fit inside its own parking lot! I like to compare the park with an ocean-side pier or an FEC with a huge coaster. It's not on par with a Knoebels or Kennywood and the prices shouldn't be the same; still too high. It's run by latter-day Priemier/ Six Flags execs who made an art form of closing rides, so that is something we have to expect. There was a little of that at Indiana Beach as well. But the park looks allot nicer than it did just last year when the picnic area was paved with dirt. The King Kahuna area looks great! They rehabbed the area around the Clementon Belle as well.

Did you ride Hellcat in the front? I liked it up there but the others can have the back seat!

Mc Donalds on Cross Keys Road in Sicklerville! Yeah, I'm fat.
Prepare to weather the storm!

I rode Hellcat front row on my first ride; it was my most enjoyable. The first drop actually was great in the front on my first ride.

The lick?

THE LICK : Phrase that was popularized in the seventies (continuing in limited use through the eighties) that meant "the stuff" , i.e., the best-of-the-best of an given category.
Man, that new caddy is the lick.
