Kk & The Travel Channel Shoot
« on: June 25, 2008, 05:55:17 PM »

There it is! The tallest and fastest coaster in the world!

v This once was the tallest coaster in the world.

Have a nice day!

This is the expert on everything Clementon Park.

That is what I feel like after Election Day in Jersey.

Dainan waited for the shoot to get started.

Jon did his impression of an SFA employee. Where's the cell phone, Jon?

Angel told us about a review she came across from SFA, which said their operation employee's should be trained by the SFGAdv employees!

The camera.

Justin and Kathleen secure some riders.

Bubba mugs for his rollback ride.

Arms down. Head back. Hold on!

Oh well.

Next time, Bubba.

Bubba said it was the fastest ride he had ever had on Kingda Ka.

It was time for the rest of us to ride. Here are Dainan (Cycloneman) and Tom (PCMan)

The crew agreed and said it was the fastest they had ever seen Ka go.

It had been 8 months since my last ride on Kingda Ka. I was blown away at the speed this machine was taking on. It was the fastest ride I had ever had on Ka. We had airtime on the tower. It was a clear day and it seemed like I could see forever. Rolling Thunder, the Safari; Monmouth County. I couldn't make out Philly to the right.

Staple fight!

We both lost; We were sitting in the back.

Give'em a break. It was early in the morning.

Josh LOVES Clementon.

Does anybody have a bowling ball?

Updates Members L TO R: (orange Kingda Ka shirt) Dainan/CycloneMan; (green Kingda Ka shirt) Amanda/RedLafrance; (black El Toro shirt) Josh/Mysterio; (black live vest) Tom/PCMan; (blue GA shirt) Me/Darkridedan; (orange jacket) Ken/Ogolo; (green Kingda Ka shirt) Matt/Millennium Force44; (black roller coaster shirt) Coastin' Steve--talking with Jenn to the right. Angel is on the left.

Thank you Wade, Angel, Jen, The Travel Channel and everybody else at the park for a great morning, including the crew...

We left Kingda Ka to explore the rest of the park. More to come!
Prepare to weather the storm!

Looks like I missed a fun time, minus the KK rides ;)

Tom, did you jump ship? :)

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

It was a fun morning. Kingda Ka was running really well.

...moreso in the front.

Ken, Tom and Bubba went in different directions while Josh and his family went over to the water park. Dainan, Matt, Amanda and her daughter and I headed over to Rolling Thunder.

Hang in there! ^

Dainan and I sat in the front row and Matt sat in the Chillforce seat, behind us.

The ride was pretty smooth for SFGAdv's traditional wood coaster standards, and it was running pretty fast for an early morning ride too boot. If there are some Rolling Thunder haters amongst us, consider riding in the Yellow Train. It runs faster and provides a smoother ride to boot. The crew was very organized with getting the trains out pretty fast.

Yellow Flash = Good

Blue Bomber = Not as good

Next, we headed to El Toro.

The line began halfway through the queue house closest to the station.

The line moved fast due in part to a crew who had our train dispatched before the other train finished its course. It was a great ride!

Heh, Matt. I didn't think it was too bad. I left out my pic.  ::)

Dainan, Matt and I headed to Frontier Adventures to ride Medusa. The crew was doing a good job with getting trains out before the previous train hit the block brakes. Tim was going exceptionally fast as was Jon at El Toro. Again, good ride employees come from 230.  ;)

We went to Best of the West.

The hamburgers and fries were VERY good. They were perhaps the best burger and fries that I have ever had at a park.

Nick from Security came over and talked with us a bit. Some of you may remember Nick from Runaway Train in 2002, Rolling Thunder in '03 and Medusa in '04, and his Fright Fest decorations at the rides. He's still around and doing well. I believe he is at Cedar Point as I type this.

High Tide!

El Toro and Kingda Ka trains in one shot.  :D

We walked over to The Boardwalk.

The old pics have been removed from the GASM queue.

GASM was running powerfully. I?m not sure if Matt liked it. Dainan and I think the ride packs one of the best punches at the park!

At this point my memory card filled up and my other card was in the car.

We went to Nitro and the end of the line was above the bottom of the steps. The crew was rockin?! Manager Kevin was operating and spitting trains out like the early-year crews. He did spiel about not leaving loose articles in the station to make the wait much shorter. I think it helps, but a hustling crew and the lack of mandatory height checks makes the biggest difference.

It was a great ride! We rode in the second to the back row. We went hands up on the top of the hills and tried browning out in the helix.

The Dark Knight: I don?t remember where the line started; Maybe halfway through the queue house; It went fast.

Our car was flying too! The wheels were spinning so fast, it sounded like a Matchbox wined-up car. I don?t think the sound effects were working on the flamethrower or truck, though. The coaster was great.

I touched the hairpin turn while going up the lift. There isn?t a set a brakes on the ride that can stop a car to allow all ten cars to ride and avoid a near-miss flyby. It would be bad if they ran all 10 cars.

We rode Batman: The Ride, in the front. We tried something that I hadn?t done in a while. We looked down the whole ride. Try it sometime, it's awesome! Again, the crew was kickin? butt.

Matt left us, and Dainan and I went over to the water ice and ice cream stand in the strip of concessions by Wiggles Port.  The only flavor they had in water ice was cherry, but it was the best water ice I had ever had at a park.

Where in the park?

We walked right onto the back row of Skull Mountain. The drop was great. The pumpkin and the skeleton were lit up. And this was the first time I rode with strobes. (By the time I had my first ride in 1998, the strobes were off.) Good job Great Adventure. I hope to see more decorations and effects in the future. The crew was also pretty fast.

If Dainan worked there, he would look like this.

?Took the Sky Way across the park.

We exited through the Western Fortress and walked to Runaway Train.

We thought it would be nice if guests could walk on the top walkways of the Fort. It would make a great attraction or queue.

We rode in the front row of the back car. It was Dainan?s recommendation and it was a great row throughout the entire ride.

We crossed over to Plaza Del Carnival to Rolling Thunder. The line was just past the tunnel and moved pretty quickly. We sat in the back row of Lightning Flash. You might think it would be painful, but I had my cell phone in my back pocket. I avoided sitting on my cell by never actually sitting. Now this might sound like stupid advice coming from a former op, but it makes for a smoother ride. Just, don?t try it at Holiday World. I wasn?t standing; I just never touched the back or the bottom of the seat. Enough of this mental picture.

We went to the Boardwalk to ride the Parachutes. The ops were (probably instructed) to do the dumbest thing I?ve seen at the ride. AVMatt told me about this while he was at the park the week before. Each op was loading only one chute. Usually, one operator would load one chute while the other chute was in the air. This time, the other chute sat unused. Perhaps it?s a ride age issue. 6 other chutes were unused. I would wait in line for it if at least four chutes were used, but two chutes is too few.

Another ride on GASM: I had forgotten why some people complain about pain on this ride. Our train was ? empty and if the train is practically empty, it will cause some jolting vibrations (jibrations.) Still, it was better than the other multi-looper in the park to me.

We looked over to Superman:Ultimate Flight and we saw that only the last queue house before the station had guests. This was the first time I would be on the ride since April ?06 and it felt like getting on a new ride all over again. We went for the back row and watched as the crew flew through checking restraints.

The lift hill is crazy; The drop is awesome; And the pretzel loop is insane!

Well, on three hours sleep, I needed to call it a day. Bubba and I never met back up. Dainan had to return to Staten Island before he turned into a pumpkin. We stopped by Guest Relations to thank the crews. I didn?t ride one bad coaster or encounter one slow crew.

Thanks for reading!
