2009 Season Preview!
« on: March 30, 2009, 04:33:40 PM »
As Six Flags Great Adventure is about to open for the 2009 season this Saturday, we wanted to write up a preview of what to expect this season!

- Medusa is being redesigned! While no one is exactly sure what to expect at this point, but we do know that it's now purple and blue, it's getting such things as music and fire, and it probably won't be named Medusa. The ride opens Memorial Day weekend!

- The Big Wheel has been renovated! The park has done a great restoration job on the attraction and it should look great. Almost makes me want to stay until dark the first day to see it!

- The historic park Carousel is being restored as well! This is a multi-year project, but already the ride is looking amazing. Can't wait until it's finished!

- The Glow in the Park Parade is back for a second season! Expect to see it nightly starting Memorial Day.

- We are getting a new fireworks display this summer, called Saturday Night Lights! Other versions of it have gotten rave reviews and we can expect this one to include local rock legends in its soundtrack.

- And as always there are minor changes at the park, from moved/closed/renamed shops to landscaping and everything else! We have heard that some of the food areas have been changed/expanded for one, and we will have more information on this opening day!

And don't forget that Great Adventure is not the only park at Six Flags! Hurricane Harbor opens Memorial Day, and the Wild Safari opens on Saturday! The Safari is free with your season/daily pass or just a small fee to get in on its own! You can see many different animals as you drive through the safari, and at the end you can stop at the Exploration Center to see, among many other small animals, the new twin lion cubs! And the best part is that the safari opens at 9 - so get there early and take a drive through it before the park opens at 10:30!

So far it sounds like a great season, and we will be there when it starts Saturday morning!
