TR: Las Vegas - with pictures
« on: February 20, 2006, 06:52:01 PM »
After a few of the busiest weeks EVER, some issues at home (sick family members) and finding out we weren't moving, Kristi and I needed a weekend alone.

We went to Vegas in December for our Anniversary, but we were both VERY sick. This time we were both in great health.

It was a rather short trip, we drove out Saturday morning and came back Sunday afternoon but we had a totally awesome time.

We stayed at the Flamingo and I would definitely stay here again.

We got in to Vegas about 11:30 on Saturday and since we couldn't check in until 3:00 we decided to hit up some other hotels first. We parked at NY/NY (they have an easy parking structure) and made our way in.

After a quick potty break Kristi decided it was time to win $85 on a dollar machine. Not too shabby.

Next we took tours of Mandalay Bay, Luxor and Excalibur. Played a little bit at Excalibur and had a drink.

Next up was a short walk to the new Hooters Hotel and Casino. Neither of us were very impressed. The Casino is very small and it basically looks like a Hooters with some slot machines and tables.

Next we headed to MGM, saw the Lions but no gambling. Back to NY/NY and had a Nathans hot dog then off to the Flamingo.

We were checking in and without even asking they upgraded us to a Suite. WOW!!! This room was absolutely HUGE. We could have slept 10+ people in here. It was kind of sad to waste it on us.

Freshened up a bit and headed out to continue touring hotels. The great thing about staying centrally is that you don't have to drive anywhere. We walked across to Caesars, then the Mirage, Treasure Island, back to Bellagio. Saw the water show twice and the conservatory (which wasn't so great this time).

Headed back to our Hotel about 7:00 and hit the Buffet. Again I'm getting more impressed with this hotel. The Buffet seating over looks the outside garden where they have the Flamingo's and Penguins. Which ROCKS!!! Crab Legs, Sushi, Shrimp, Prime Rib, etc. It was all VERY good.

Played a little bit in the Casino but because it was a Holiday Weekend the minimum table games were $15. Too rich for my blood.

So we headed up to the room about 9pm and stayed there for the rest of the night.

Sunday morning we woke up about 7:00 and headed for the Champaigne Brunch Buffet. BEST BUFFET EVER!!! OMG!!! I had about 4 Mimosa's and Kristi had a few glasses of Champaigne.

They were feeding the Penguins about 8:30am so we headed out and checked that out. It was pretty cool.

Headed over to the Gift Shop to get some Souveniers for everybody. We were then going to head up and check out since we wanted to go check out the Wynn, Aladdin and Paris before it got too busy.

On the way up we decided to play about $20 on a Dollar Machine. Almost instantly Kristi won $500. SWEET!!!

We go cash that in so we decided to go ahead and play another $20 in Quarters. I then proceeded to win $300 in Quarters. Double Sweet.

So then we decided to head up to our room and check out and stuff.

Now until now we weren't doing too bad on the games. We had maybe lost about $100 but we were playing quite a lot too.

Checked out of the Hotel and headed over to the Wynn. Only gambled about $20 here, no biggie. The hotel itself is nice but WAY too fancy for my taste. You could tell the people who were staying there had a holier than thou attitude.

Then we drove over to the Aladdin and did some shopping. Kristi headed for Ann Taylor Loft, I picked up a CSI Las Vegas sweat shirt (She out-spent me $100 to $15) and she also bought a $30 of sugar free godiva chocolate. That's my girl.

By this point it was about 11:00 and as per tradition we always stop at Buffalo Bills on the way home.

We got to Buffalo Bills about 11:30 and for the first time all weekend we found $5 Blackjack. Sat down with $100 and we left about an hour later with $150. Not too bad.

We would have played longer but these idiots showed up.

Okay, so the dealer is showing a 6. The guy has an Ace and a 6 which is 17. The dumbass hits and get's a 10. The dealer has 16. What does he get??? A Freakin' 4!!!! I hate stupid *** people.

So anyway, I digress. We left the table and played a little more slots. Kristi put $20 in a $1 machine and one another $300. SWEET.

Walked by our Blackjack table and the idiots were gone so we sat down again. It was about 1:00 and we wanted to leave by 2:00 so we just put down $20 each. We left at 2:00 and cashed in $150.

So all told we came home with $1160 (even after the Ann Taylor, Godiva, etc).

We had a totally unbelievable weekend. We missed the rain (it only sprinkled on us a few times) and had great food and great fun.

One bad thing is that I forgot the digital camera so we had to go with old-school disposable cameras.

Here are some photos, you can see more here: http://greggandkristi.smugmug.com/gallery/1219352

We are Knights of the Round Table, wherever we are able:

The Strip:

Hooters:

Is it really???:

Looks pretty common to me:

Other than a few Hooters themed slots, some hooters girls dealing blackjack and orange felt I didn't see anything out of the ordinary:

The sign outside:

Mandatory Coaster Shot:

The next few shots are of our room ... I think it was as big as our house:

The Flamingo has a nice wildlife habitat:

Our room is up there on the 24th floor:

They were doing "The View" out in front of Caesars ... if I had the zoom you could have seen Star Jones' fat ass (Maybe it's a good thing I forgot the digital) ... notice the lack of an audience:

Pete Rose was signing Autographs ... only $70 for a baseball ...

Mandatory naked lady statue picture:

There were no scars on the statue of Roy:

Kitty humping the elephant statue:

The Wynn ... home of stuck-up people:

I saw WAY too many kids lining up with their parents to see Sirens of TI ... I think this would be your first clue that it's not a kids show:

Aren't I handsome?:

Foxy Lady:

Aint we cute?

We won some $$ (this was before we left for Buffalo Bills:

The Wynn:

We didn't win enough to get one of these:

The sign for Avenue Q was fuzzy:

Nice Place, but too nice for my taste, even if I could afford it I would MUCH rather stay at the Bellagio, Mirage or Mandalay Bay:

And now we end this trip ... FCUK, I don't want to come home:

Can't believe you won that much cash !
Wow a parking garage that tells you how many spaces are open !
Wish Atlantic City's casinos would install that feature.

Nice pics. My dad was in Vegas this weekend, coming back tonight. he stayed at the Bellagio.

When I went I stayed at THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay....by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at. If you have enough cash, stay there, the rooms have 42 inch plasma screens, huge beds, huge marble bathroom with LCD TV, etc...

Nice TR, picture TR's are the best. Lucky you won so much. Usually people come out of Vegas $1,000 in debt, not $1,000 richer.

Nice review. Next time you guys go to Vegas, invite me. You guys are so lucky. Oh and forget about Pete Rose. He probably made another bet on how many autographs he would actually sign too.
