Six Flags to Debut 5D ride in 2011
« on: November 20, 2009, 07:02:54 PM »
Thanks to Theme Park Insider, we got a small taste of what 2011 could have in store for the entire chain.

Six Flags' bigger news, which I didn't get to ask Shapiro about, is that the chain will install an attraction from 5D International in Spring 2011. No word yet on which park, but I talked with the folks at 5D and the tech seems impressive. (Think 4D show inside a ride.)

So, afterwards, I did a little digging because I wanted to know just what might be heading out into the wild.  Turns out there are two 5D experiences in Austria.  The company has a pretty interesting website as well:

Interesting...Looks like an extreme version of Soarin.  ;D
Take a look at this video of their experience-> vienna-airlines
And here http://www.explore5d.com

"5D International has signed an agreement with a “major attraction” in the United States to deliver a double Flyboard installation opening May 2010."
2010 or 2011??

I can think of a nice place to put this at GAdv. Fingers crossed.

It'll get themed to CLAWS

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

The flyboard looks like it's their star product.  I bet the Da.R.E. format is pretty awesome as well as the Dream Coaster.  If the platforms all deliver as well as the Vienna Airlines video make it look, I'm thinking they'll have a pretty good hit on their hands.

that looks like something that'll become a staple of any park and stay that way, for many, many years.

I'm thinking plans by past management may or may not be implemented anywhere.  See, for instance, the delayed install of the Dance Coaster at Magic Mountain.

Lance Hart at Screamscape would have us believe Mr. Al Weber is responsible for this delay.  I don't buy that...
