Holiwood Nights
« on: November 25, 2009, 11:42:21 PM »
I need info on holiwood nights.

-What club should I join?
-What is the turn-out like?
-How die hard is it?
-Is it as awesome as it sounds?
-Are hotels reasonable in the area?

Join whichever club you want to join that's listed on their page.

The last few years have been pretty light, with about 400-500 people. I heard the first year the line for Voyage got to well over 30-40 minutes. Luckily on all my visits I've never waited for more than 10 minutes during ERT.

Ummm... die hard? I don't know how to answer that.

It is awesome if you like power riding wooden coasters than can beat you up :)

Hotels are reasonable. I always stay at Santa's Lodge. Family Suite is usually $199 for the 2 nights and holds about 5-6 people deopending on if youre OK with sleeping with someone.

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

The reason I ask about "die hard" is this. My family really likes coasters. They are by no means enthusiests. I'm not sure holiwood nights is for them. All three of them prefer steel to wood, although they all like wood. Especially El Toro. Basically what i'm asking is will someone GP'ish be able to take this event or would it be too much?

PS thanks for the tips so far.
Another question for you. Is the ERT all 3 at once, or is it one at a time?

ERT is all 3 at once, both nights. If they prefer steel to wood, and like El Toro, then doing this event might not be the best thing for them. The coasters ride like wooden coasters are supposed to, unlike Toro.

Don't get me wrong they like wood. I just don't see them riding each one 10 times each night. Plus I know they'll love the waterpark. I'm more worried about how they'll fit in with the crowd.

I wouldn't worry about that. It's a public amusement park. There will be lots of different types of people there, no one judging... and if there are people there that are judging, they aren't worth your time. From my experience, it's always been very laid back and everyone is there for the same reason: To have fun.

K cool. Thanks for the tips again. I've never myself been to an event like this. I was going to make PPP in 2010 my first but when I heard about this one I said to myself I can't let this one pass by for another year.

I'm going to try making this my main event I do for 2010. Only tough part will be that I'm in Vegas for a week right before it which is a lot of being away from the family. Bubba, Rob, you driving or flying?

Depending on time off of work, flying. If I can get Thursday-Monday off I'll drive, but flying on NWA is usually $180 RT.

Wade is gonna go...damn! Too bad I'll be even farther away this year and will not be able to make this event. Oh well, there's always 2011.

Let me know what you are going to do. I will drive with you if you decide to drive. If you decide to fly, let me know what flight you are on.

I think a club member can bring as many guests as he/she wants to bring.  See www.holidayworld.com/clubs for lots of info.

All the years I've gone, I've never gone to the morning water park ERT, but with the new water coaster and knowing how much Bubba wants to ride it, I think I will get up early this time and go. Sometimes it has been chilly in the morning, but the water is heated, so as long as you stay in the water it probably won't be bad, especially considering the event is a little later in the season this time around.

If you take the NWA flight from Philly to Detroit to Louisville, sit on the right side of the plane in the "Cedar Point seats", right Rob? ;)

It might be the left side, you'll have to ask Ian, if he'll ever post here again.

Matt Shoe, if I end up driving I'm hitching a ride with some of my friends that work at the park, and it'll already be full. If not, you can fly with us and what not!

Is it usually an entire waterpark ert? I think this year it's only a wildebeest ert.
