Houdini's Great ReOpening
« on: February 22, 2010, 10:27:06 PM »
OK, this is a bit hopeful, but please join us.

If you have a Facebook, here (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=312380654897&ref=ts) is the URL of a group of people who want Houdini to be reopened. Right now it has over 180 members, but we need more if we want to impress Six Flags. Please join if you are able.

If you aren't there's still stuff you can do. You can "contact us" Great Adventure (http://www.sixflags.com/greatAdventure/footerNav/contact.aspx) near the bottom and tell them how much you love Houdini and how much you want it open. You can also comment on YouTube videos relating to the ride and on blogs and everything.

I got Screamscape to mention our support group, so it shouldn't just be something small. Come out and show your support!

(I sure hope this is in the right sub-forum, sorry, this is my second post after my "Introduce Yourself" post)

Yeah I just read Screamscape's comment about Houdini. Very nice for getting their attention! Hopefully the park is also listening

Ultimately, the company Six Flags has the final say here. We need them to be listening even more!

They thought of re-closing Houdini?  :o I'm shocked. I thought it was popular enough to open on March 27th.

I thought it was reopened as of last year's Fright Fest. I guess that was just a temporary engagement? Bummer. It's one of the best attractions in the park.

This is a great flat ride ( which if the company is listening WE NEED more of at SFGADV ) this is a ride lots of kids are tall enough for and families can ride together . I love those kinds of rides .
Either way it is a bummer if the ride does not open all year and only opens for Fright Fest .

It's one of those rides that fits with fright fest, but maybe they should modify it a little for fright fest specifically. (claws don't get your hopes up)

They should theme it to Claws terrorizing the Lady By The Lake or something.

It's fun to say CLAWS!

As funny as this CLAWS is, we're getting off-topic. The issue at hand...?

(If I walk into the park and the Skull on SkMt is replaced with a lady's face, I might just die)

You wouldn't be the only one. But as long as they keep the awesome first drop and don't change the trains, it's all good.

So yeah, HOUDINI!

Scipiomask posted a video on YouTube about saving it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdoMcbgjfak#noexternalembed

Also, you may recognize me from other websites as DiveMachine.  Just PM me if you know any websites that don't have a save Houdini thread. I'm really trying to save it, and I've been posting save houdini stuff to other websites

Houdini is one of the best themed rides in the park.
It did quite well during the 2009 fright fest, but was that because it was something special?
I don't know if it would pull a crowd year round.
With the current money situation it may just make more sense to keep it as "Fright Fest" attraction.
At least then you know when it will be open again.

Maybe.

To be honest, until the company emerges from bankruptcy, there can be no assurance who will run the parks and the company, much less when or if a particular ride will operate.

I think it would be cool if they altered the story of Houdini's Great Escape for Fright Fest. Make it more of a Haunted Mansion/Phantom Manor type attraction with a spooky storyline to follow. The interior is already creepy looking with it's gothic victorian look. A good gothic horror story would be awesome on the ride for Fright Fest!

I think it'd be cool if they just ran it the way it ran back in '99 (or whatever year it opened - pretty sure 99).

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!
