^Thanks for sharing. Wish I could have made it to the event. I may have just missed it, but do we know who is designing that coaster?

Pretty sure the current model was designed entirely by GCI. However Premiere and Gravity Group are/were potential firms for the final product.

Do they finally have an ETA for opening or is it still in the range of 2011-2014?

I'd say that range is about right. They don't seem to want to commit to anything.

And I guess they're taking their time with getting started on the coaster. But who knows, they could be doing a "surprise" opening like with the ghost ship they just opened.

They've got a lot of site preparation to do before they can surprise and start building the new woodie. Other rides and buildings have to be relocated/demolished to make way for the ride. Once the Skyscraper shows up on the Great White pier, we'll know it's time. ;) Can't wait to see it all transpire. It's going to look look really cool when it's all in place.

Back to the event kind of... Did anyone else get "friended" by Jack Morey on Facebook yesterday?

Jack seems to want to "friend" everybody.  He announced it at the "On The Drawing Board" get-together.  He's new to FB and I don't know if he's aware of what he's getting into.  He's already had 1 idiot asking where the t-shirts are.  I mean, come on, it hasn't even been a week yet!

Who cares if they ever send out the t-shirts. They don't owe them to us IMO. Some people are so whiny it makes me want to kick them in the head.

Doesn't matter to us.  Neither one of us will probably even wear them, especially if they're black.  I gave mine to Dan last year.   :)  I'm just impressed that they would even go through the time and expense of doing that for us.

Exactly. They do way more than they should simply because they are trying to impress the enthusiast community and get recognition. But no matter how much you give, there are always some tools that want more and want it now.

I prefer the term "dropkick." but yes, some people are only in it for the free stuff...

Look for a 2012-2013 opening

They have all the Permits and approvals from the State DEP,Towns etc.
(will span both N. Wildwood and Wildwood)

So like Matt said when you see the Skyscraper and the Giant Slide being moved that's a sign

I'm really getting a Gravity Group feel from this coaster and I can only hope that is the case. I see a lot of Ravine Flyer, Hades and Boardwalk Bullet in there.

Huh? It looks soooo GCI and not at all Gravity Group if you look at the details of the banking. Way too many swooping turns for Gravity Group's style. Although they incorporate *some* spiraling drops and hills (like Hade's and RF2's turnarounds), their signature is straight hills/drops and parallel track and they usually transition out of their turns before entering drops in order to maximize the airtime. GCI's signature is to have no parallel tracks (going in every direction like an interstate interchange) and they usually blend turns into their hills which cuts down on laterals and airtime. It's kind of like the difference between B&Ms and Arrows (in terms of layouts).

For a good example of how TGG does things differently than GCI, compare Cornball Express' first drop to the first drop on the model (and pretty much every other GCI. Look at he shape of the drop and the transition from the lift hill. Cornball's shape allows for powerful airtime in the back seat, where as all GCI curved first drops have very little airtime as the banking counteracts it. I'd really like to see the first drop on the WildWoodie to be reprofiled like Cornball's. The minor tweaks like that make the difference between a good coaster and an amazing coaster.

At the Ghost Ship media event I talked with Will Morey and asked if its still GCI doing the coaster
and he said yes

so GCI  is pretty much doing it unless something crazy goes wrong
