Well, the season is over now? So I guess we can talk a bit more about this now.

A few months back we were asked to assist Discovery Channel with a documentary they are producing as they follow the craze around the 3 US wooden coasters being built for the 2006 season (Beech Bend Park, The Voyage and El Toro).  They find it interesting that while all 3 coasters are wooden, they are also all very different in design.

Last night was what I believe to be the final gathering with them on this project.  Diana, Coastin Steve and I were back at the park last night being filmed entering the park, walking the park, riding Kingda Ka (sorry to those that had to wait for us!) and some brief interviews.

Last night would also be my final ride of the season.  I hadn?t initially intended on being at Gadv on the last operating day of the year with it being Halloween and all (some of us have kids!).  However, with such a unique opportunity, we just couldn?t pass it up!

Thanks for a great season Great Adventure and thank you Discovery Channel for bringing us along for the ride!  It was a unique experience to say the least and I think we are all scared to hear/see ourselves next Spring!

Here are 2 pictures of the gathering at my house on the day of the announcement -

I second that! Thanks to Liz and Discovery crew as well as the park for offering us to the Discovery Channel. Also, Thanks to everyone who participated on announcement day and, the biggest Thanks to Wade's wife for allowing us crazies in their home ! :) Let's not forget to mention Steve U who is probably smiling down upon us! He was our greatest supporter who ultimately made most of this possible for us!

Man, I wish I was there too.  Stupid lack of car...

Looked like you guys had fun though, smiles all around.  It's nice to be able to put a face to the names. :)

That was a fun, early, morning.  :P
I love doing stuff like that, not to mention getting to meet a lot of people I never had before. Not pictured is the other guy from the discovery channel, cant remember his name, but he really didnt want his picture taken.  :D

That was a fun EARLY morning, but it was very cool to speak to the Discovery people. They were nice people and I had some good conversations with them. Maybe I will be on TV!!

:P

Some of us were already at work.  Well, great that it all went well.  Steve told me all about it, and it sounded like a blast.
The world is coming to an end, I've actually created a blog!

I too regret the fact I never get to meet any of you. I mean,  it always seems that we are at the park the same day after reading trip reports. Well there is always next year with El Toro and more discovery opportunities. That is  if I get invited again , since I dropped the ball on the first invite.

I am not sure but I think Liz said after all three are open? They will e-mail everyone they filmed (I know for a fact Wade will be contacted) and let them know the exact air date.
