Clementon Park - May 2012 Construction Progress

(1/3) > >>

WadeJ:
I had a short opportunity to stop by Clementon Park today for other matters and was able to tour the grounds thanks to our great friend Nick.

I have to be honest, I've been extremely upset with the park over the last few years.  We saw the demise of the Jack Rabbit (my first ever coaster as well as my mom's), the Whip, Whacky Shack, the boat, Falling Star, Carousel (and now the entire building) just to name a few so that basically, everything from my childhood is gone.  I grew up in this park from the late 70's all the way through the mid-90's and then completely stopped going aside from a few quick trips on Hellcat.
With all of that said, I don't hold the current management accountable for all of the decay and destruction.  It's been years in the making and outside of their control.  Even still, it was difficult to walk in and see a Wave Pool sitting where I once grew up.  And WOW what a nice wave pool it is.

I can only imagine the level of crowds they will see this year.  I was amazed at the level of detail going into it and the fact that they've managed to lose no rides in the process is even better.  So while I'm still upset at the loss of great memories, I absolutely can't wait to see the final product and create new memories with my family.

Great job Clementon and thank you for allowing me to see the current progress.  I really believe you have a hit on your hands.
PS - Hopefully CLP management takes a spin on Wooden Warrior because it would still fit!

Pictures on the way...

Keep in mind these were taken with my phone... many times while pointing directly into the sun so I couldn't even see what I was taking a picture of :)

This pad will eventually become a new bathroom/shower area of the water park expansion.  And yes, it is where the former carousel house was :(.  But it is needed and the building was falling down anyway :).

Log Flume got some off-season love as well apparently.

The new location for these relocated rides basically begins where Jack Rabbits station was and proceeds to the infield of the ride.  They did a great job and our favorite trivia DJ is doing a great job with the paint  ;D.
