Well, seeing that I woke up at 1 today, I don't think I'll have any problem with the annual tradition I share with my cousins.  Turkey while watching the Cowboy's game (even though I'm the only Cowboy's fan), play Madden after the 'grown ups' leave, play Monopoly after the champion has been determined, then venture on over to Nassau Plaza in Princeton (at least I think it's Princeton) and buy something.  If the line is too long, we gawk at it instead like last year.

I have never seen grown people act in such a despicable way.  The scene at Wal-Mart in Nassau Plaza was ridiculous.

The Best Buy at Nassau Plaza was ridiculous as well.  The line, at the time of our arrival (3:30 AM) went from Best Buy's door, down to the end of the strip, made an approximately 300 person loop, then came back to Best Buy's door on the street.  When it reached 5 AM, the line continued down the street to the end of the strip on the other end, around that corner, and back towards the loading docks.  Insane.

I see another revenue stream for the big box stores - flash pass to skip the line!

I know the deals are good but I'd still rather pay a few bucks more or not be able to get something at all vs. going through all this crap.

I think to some extent, they USED to do that.  It was called an exclusive club for members of the credit cards that spent at least X number of dollars per year...and a private sale.  Some time down the road of retailing, they seem to have mostly forgotten that.  I know Kohl's still does it, but not for new game systems...
