Looks like El Toro got #2 in the 2009 poll.

2009 Mitch Hawkers Wooden Roller Coaster Results

Anyone understand why they ask the questions about Abrupt Airtime, Foating Airtime, Lateral Forces, Out of Control Feeling/Directional Changes, Positive G's/Loops, Sensation of Speed in the poll??  Do they take these into the ranking ot does he just collect the data for another purpose?

I love New Jersey more than most people. El Toro is a great ride, but no where near as good as Voyage, nor Boulder Dash or Phoenix, not to mention several other woodies. First hand experience right here. ;)

Before J2 was neutered into HellCat, it absolutely pwned Toro!

Ken, those questions are used to get a feel for why people vote the way they do, but are not figured into the scoring. You can look at each ballot submitted to see how people voted.

The exclamation belongs on suck, and not weather good sir.
Hawkers Pool is better than most but it still has flaws. If you go through the ballots you see ppl ranking raven last overall, ranking El Toro in the bottom five. It's like on coasterfanatics how ppl rate voyage 1/10 so El Toro can be the highest rated, and I'm sure vice versa. There should be a way to weed out ballots like that. Then and only then would you have a great system.

PS I rated Rolling Thunder 12 out of 18 on my ballot to represent my GA outpost hommies. HAAH

Unfortunately there is no way to force people to be honest in their voting. And there are always going to be situations where some people really dislike a certain ride THAT much when everyone else absolutely love it, so it's hard to tell. And on top of that coasters give crappy rides on some visits and amazing rides on others, so if you've only ever ridden it once, you may have caught it on a bad day.

The first time I rode Raven (middle of the day in '98), it was very mediocre. Then that night in the dark, it blew me away. It went from bottom 50 to top 5 in the same day. 11 years later, it's lucky to make my top 20, but still vastly superior to most coasters out there.

Don't take the poll seriously. Make up your own mind. :)

Hallelujah and Huzzah!  Were "dishonest" votes not counted, Rich, Sue and I would be in big trouble when it comes to a certain set of wooden racing coasters in New Jersey...

Matt, I felt the same way about toro. The first time I went on it, it was cloudy and it was about to rain. The first three hills gave a little pop of air, but that was it. The next day I went, it was like 80 and no clouds in the sky, nobody was there which was wierd. The ride was great, the first three hills almost threw me of the ride and the return hill even gave some air.*

*I sat in the exact same seat, too.

Before J2 was neutered into HellCat, it absolutely pwned Toro!
J2 was a great ride also, other than the fact of limping for the next week. Once they added the trims, Absolutley hated the ride. It wasn't as rough, but that airtime on the last few hills was the best.

J2 in 2007, the last time I rode it, was a good ride. The first drop was smooth, the hill after that was also. Just when you enter the helixes it gets a bit shaky and if you're not prepared for it it will cause a little pain. The main reason why I limped off the ride was because the ride-op's let me go again w/o getting back in line. I rode it like 5-8 times in a row, somewhere in that area.

Before the trims, the second hill was a bit bumpy. And the bunny hills would give you some good air-time in the right seats.
