My friend's daughter was in the park on the day of the fire, on a school trip.  It was the most frightening thing she had ever been through and witnessed, as she had just gotten out of the castle maybe 15 minutes before the incident.  She's never gone back to a theme park again.  The sounds of the kids screaming for help while they burned alive was a scary thing back then and I would say the same would hold true for today as well.  A walkthrough like that would be a BAD idea!

However, some sort of cool family ride based on ghosts & lasers would be great.  Everyone safely in their cars, operators having full control of the riders, sprinklers, emergency lights, lots of exits, & being able to get people out in a moments notice by running all the cars quickly through the track to the exit.

I was in the Great Arena watching a "Golden Earing" concert when the Haunted House fire occurred.
We almost went into the Haunted House, but I didn't want to miss the show.
The park was handing out "free" tickets to return to the park...which I never used.
A night I'll never forget.  That was some thick black smoke!

Ken.....Are you still a Golden Earing fan?????
