PTR The Great Allentown Fair 9/2/07
« on: September 02, 2007, 05:16:40 PM »
Since we saw in the newspaper that there was a roller coaster at the fair, we had to head on over to get our credit.  We just walked around and rode the coaster once since there wasn't much else there that caught our interest.  The midway is by S&S Amusements, but this is the last year they'll be at the Allentown Fair.  Next year Powers Great American Midway is taking over.  Here's a couple of pictures from the fair.

Food midway:

This was a strange looking ride that we've never seen anywhere else before.  Not sure what it does since we never saw it operate.

Midway rides:

Dark ride:

Orient Express coaster:

Credit whores in action:

Now that looks reassuring!

Sue, was that ride similar to the Looper at Knoebels? The ride to the left looks intense.

Oh no!

Dark ride:

I missed a credit.

Wow Sue, you sure are getting around these past couple of months.  Have you hit 700 yet?

Dan, lol to Oh no !  I see it and yes that Rok and Rol is definitely a looper.

^ The ride behind Rich also sits in the Camden scrap yard.

I give you credit.  As much as I love rides, I can't bring myself to go on Carnie rides.  I guess I have seen how long it takes them to put the things up and take them down.  Not to mention who is doing it.

Dan: Yes, Rok N' Rol is similar to Looper at Knoebels.  The Orbiter next to it did look very intense, but only had a short cycle.  What's the "oh no" for?

Bubba: Orient Express was #699 which works out perfectly since that will make Mystery Mine at Dollywood #700 in a few weeks.  That's what I wanted it to be.

Peter:  I certainly understand your reasons.  I don't ride carnival rides that often except when a credit is needed.  I would, however, love to go to the Western Washington Fair in WA.  My sister is going there in a few weeks and I am so jealous!

That ride looks like Saturn 6 at Coney which made me sick.

I haven't been on Saturn 6--what's so bad about it?  Is it just the length of the ride?  It looks like Apollo at Dorney to me.

They did run a very long cycle . I didn't ride , but I know Apollo goes up and down quicker and faster with shorter arms. Where as Saturn 6 has longer arms and seems to have a floating smoother ride up and down  if that makes any sense.
