9/21 PTR of an Amazing Night
« on: September 22, 2007, 12:42:36 AM »
Let me just start off by saying that I had an AMAZING night at Great Adventure tonight. The staff was extremely friendly today and the park was empty-we got on every single coaster! My friend and I got to the park at around 5 and headed straight for El Toro. We walk through the empty park to find that the station was empty! We rallied 6 times within 45 minutes, and they were letting rerides! It was great. Later on I met Bubba and Frissbeking. The best part of the night was at around 9:45 when we headed back to El Toro. We went on once, then walked around since the station was not that empty. We got in the station, which was now empty, and rode once. Then, we got a reride, which they said was the second to last train of the night. When our train pulls into the station, everyone starts chanting "reride and 1 more time!" The crew was great and gave us another ride, which brought today's total of El Toro rides to 10. (Thanks a lot Toro crew!) They gave the train after us another ride, so we still ended up being the second to last train of the night. At night, El Toro was charging over each hill and felt a lot faster. For the last three rides of the night I sat in the center of the train, which is one of the best seats. You get airtime on each camelback, not just going into the drop or coming out of it. I also got lateral airtime going into the turnaround, which I never really felt before on El Toro. Season pass holder days are the best.

Ride Count
El Toro x10
Kingda Ka x2
Nitro x2
Batman x1
Skull Mountain x1
Medusa x1
Rolling Thunder x1
Superman x2
Scream Machine x2
Runaway Train x1
Black Beard's Lost Treasure Train x1
Skyride x1
Bucaneer x1

Kingda Ka from the Skyride.

The sun through El Toro's track.

A very sad sight.

Nitro in the sunset.

Medusa wasn't letting rerides today with an empty station.

The sun shining on El Toro's track really lights it up.

My favorite picture.

Thanks for reading.

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

Fantastic Night...
One person I spoke with just buys a Season Pass to come for that one night!
I can easily understand why.

I still don't understant the no re-ride policy when not a sole is on Nitro!
I'm sure the insurance company might have something to do with that.

Peter,  No trip report from last Friday night??  I hear a rumor that things got a little rowdy that night.

Nice pictures. I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself but I did see you in passing a few times. I hope you don't mind if I add a few pictures that I took.

Family Fun Night was my first full day visit to the park this season. I had popped in a couple of times to talk with staff and ride Rolling Thunder and El Toro but I never made it onto some of the other coasters until Friday.

Chuck and his friends Tanner and Dennis joined Hannah and Joe who I met up with at the outlet mall.

Chuck talked Chiller...

While I hung out with the ride employees.

Who's operating this thing?

We rode Kingda Ka.

I thought Ka was better in the front row but Top Thrill owned the rest.

Chuck, Tanner, Dennis and myself rode GASM and really liked it. Then Hannah informed us that we were really too tall to ride.

Then two other people graced us with their presence.

We rode

It was running really well. Smooth with allot of airtime. It's how I like my out-and-backs.

We went BACK for some El Toro.

Fine ride Intamin. Fine ride. I like Maverick better...

We went on Medusa which ran well, as did RMT. Then Rob and Melissa morphed

into Rolissa

One more ride on Ka and Bubba became a sailor

Melissa changed her name

and Chuck and Rob revealed their true selves

Dan, I think that was the first Trip report I've read from you. Keep'em coming that was Hilarious!

Here's another group shot below.  And  Ken, ...I'm so sorry we missed you! We didn't get back  to EL Toro until 8:15 after our Nitro run.

No problem...
I was at El Toro at 7:00 but only waited a few minutes.
I couldn't take sitting there and watching El Toro with no line!

Maybe next time!
I was wondering if "Dream Nite" came a week early with the park being that empty.

I was thinking the same thing. If the park was as empty as it was Friday Night, what will Dream Night be like??....

Was the park this empty for Coasters After Dark this year? (I couldn't make it that day)

My experience is CAD is usually more crowded.
There are School Trips in the park during the day and they are supposed to leave before CAD starts.
Making sure they all leave is impossible, so some opt to stay for CAD.

I experienced on Friday something about El Toro that I never really felt berfore. I usually sit in the back, but for one ride I sat more towards the front, which I haven't done in a while. I decided to sit in the third row. I understand the concept of how and why you get airtime on different spots of a hill while sitting in different seats, but I never felt it as much before as I did on Friday. In the third row, you could really feel the speed pick up while going up a hill- you get popped out of your seat while almost at the top of a hill- then you would fall back into your seat and get pushed forward, feeling the front of the train haul the rest of the train over the hill. It was kind of like the airtime you get on Kingda Ka's bunny hop where u fly out of your seat and get pushed forward into the harness.
