My new job...
« on: October 16, 2007, 02:44:30 PM »
I just got a new job recently as I have enlisted in the United States Air Force. I will be leaving by the end of the year to basic training at San Antonio, TX. My job will be a F-16 Avionics Apprentice and I have no clue where I will be stationed yet(hopefully overseas somewhere).

So, I hope to see you all by the end of the year because I don't know when in 2008 I will be home again.

WOW   :o
good move
Isn't that near the Boardwalk bullet ?  Maybe you will get to ride it sooner then you thought.

Keep in touch
and try hard to get that ride on one of those babies ( F-16 )  or any other similar aircraft.
that is one of my dreams to go for a ride in a Modern Jet fighter.

Good luck  ;)

Wow Chuck, that produce worker jab really got the best of you on TPR huh?

jk obviously...  Thats exciting news.  While we'll obviously miss ya, I can tell you that San Antonio is a great place to live and work.  Congrats and good luck :)

Now I expect full coverage from the Texas Parks for next season :D

Avionics Systems Apprentice
You will operate the avionic systems on the above aircraft by using controls and displays to determine operational condition. You?ll be trained in the operation of wiring diagrams and signal data flow. Some of the systems you?ll be working on are: Attack control, radar, laser instruments, flight control, communication and navigation. You will also learn how to work with aerospace ground equipment (AGE), hand tools, and electronic measuring equipment. This AFSC was previously done by three different specialties and is not combined into one complex skill.

Congratulations Chuck!  That sounds like a great opportunity.
I can only imagine the complex redundant systems that keep one of the F-16 flying.
And as Tom said you HAVE to get a ride!!

Thanks everyone! I haven't really been saying anything to anybody until I found out for sure what I was doing and when I was leaving.

Wade, I'll probaly be in San Antonio till about June. So riding the Bullet and getting my missed credits in Texas and riding Freeze again will be a top priority. After tech school, they say the most likely place I will be stationed is Florida or Germany. Either way I'm happy!!

An excellent career choice.  I, too, add my respect and admiration to that expressed by others here.
