PTC PTR
« on: February 11, 2008, 12:16:15 AM »
Here are my pictures from the PTC warehouse tour. It was an awesome experience to get to see where the trains to many wooden coasters are assembled.

There were alot of these large posters set up:

They treated us with some snacks

All the projects that need to be worked on

There was this really neat Wild Mouse replica

For all of you J2, "Puma", fans

J2 Lapbars

Some wheels

The wheels up close

Lapbars in a box

Now to the trains. The Ravine Flyer II trains look great

Me sitting in one of the trains. Too bad the train wasn't on the track

The Voyage took a trip to the PTC warehouse

Now this was really interesting. The two wheels on the left are two side-friction wheels that were on the Voyage trains that were being worked on at the warehouse. The wheel on the right is a brand new wheel- how a wheel should look. We were told that the Voyage puts alot of stress on the wheels and wares them down due to the tight turns and banked elements. They told us that this isn't normal and wheels shouldn't ware out like they did on the Voyage in a matter of 2 years.

Some old trains that I saw hidding in the corner

A new train design

The paint shop

Me standing next to the owner of the company

I will leave you with this last picture of a poor old Laser train sitting in the parking lot, just rusting away

/\ Judging by the first picture, I'd figure it is in Hatfield PA :D  This was part of the Eastcoaster trip.

Great PTR!  Thanks for sharing.  I was thinking in the begining of your report how ironic it was that of all the coasters listed on the board, Voyage happened to be the one with the status of "Rebuild" while the others were just being rehabbed.  And then further down you showed the wheels LOL.

Something tells me that ride is going to be just a tad expensive to maintain over the coming years when you consider what must be happening to the track and structure if that was able to happen to the wheels.

That means I have to go to Indiana for Holiwood Nights this year to get my hopefully somewhat smooth ride.

^ I'm sure HW will take care of it. They know the ride is extremely aggressive and the trains hit most of the "fast paced" elements at top speed.

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

What coasters did those old trains come from?
Are you ready to send those commies running back to their mommies?

The Voyage Trains...
The Problems with being #1    :D

I'm sure Holiday World has this in their budget and don't mind rebuilding with all the free Press they get with having the #1 coaster in the world   ;)
