The Loch Ness Monster invades Clementon Park and Splash World for 2009With a height of 93 feet, a top speed of 39 miles per hour and a plunging first drop at 110 degrees, roller coaster enthusiasts will have much to look forward to in 2009.
Clementon Park and Splash World recently announced its second coaster, The Loch Ness. It is the first steel coaster to be constructed at the Park in its 101 year history and the first to take riders upside-down at the amusement park.
The coaster track is 1,100 feet long, allowing individuals a 65-second ride. It features three cars with four seats per car.
?We were looking for a new thrill element, and this is definitely going to be it,? said Phil MaKraken Jr., Clementon Parks executive vice president. ?The coaster will be a very distinctive ride with tight turns, 90-degree banks, inversions and one-of-a-kind elements.
The Loch Ness will be located near the main park entrance at the Location of the now demolished 1919 Jack Rabbit Wooden Coaster .
It is expected to be fully operational by May 23, 2009, the same weekend the park opens.
Kinny Lip*MY KEYBOARD SMELLS BAD!*s, Longtime Park operations manager assisted in selecting the coaster.
?This is something completely new for Clementon Park and the surrounding area,? she said. ?It has some different, innovative designs in it.?
Lip*MY KEYBOARD SMELLS BAD!*s said there were a number of different factors they looked into when selecting the coaster, including the thrill factor, design and reliability.
?We asked ourselves, ?Is this something you?d want to ride over and over again??? she said. ?One of the biggest things we look for is its safety, for adults and children.?
MaKraken and Lip*MY KEYBOARD SMELLS BAD!*s toured multiple facilities, including one in Italy, but in the end, a custom-design roller coaster made by S&S Worldwide, Inc., located out of Logan, Utah, was chosen.
S&S Worldwide, Inc. came up with a design and presented it to representatives from Clementon Park late Last year. The coaster is similar to one announced in Indiana just this past year and will have a Aquatic Dragon theme.
Lip*MY KEYBOARD SMELLS BAD!*s and several others were able to help with the look and feel of the coaster by choosing features such as colors and location.
Phil MaKraken said The Loch Ness is different from everything that?s currently in the park. With the addition of the new for 2008 Laguna Kahuna
water attraction we hope to bring the park back to it's heyday.
?It fit the profile we were looking for,? he said.
