InBev Bids On AB, could be end of Busch Parks
« on: June 11, 2008, 05:31:02 PM »
AB has received an unsolicited bid from InBev.  This could result in the Busch parks (including Busch Gardens, Seaworld, Sesame Place, etc.) being spun off:

This may be simply one of the best theme park articles written in the past two years.  I HIGHLY recommend you read it if you are interested in the past, present and future of the industry:

You are correct.  That article two posts above is very well written.  And factual as well lol.

The one key item that caught my eye and is something that I personally see as the easy out for AB is this:

Quote
Busch might yet fend off a takeover by combining with Mexican brewer Grupo Modelo, which would create a combined company too large for InBev to acquire. But if InBev wins and wants to sell the parks, it might end up with a less-than-premium price.

I really don't think AB is ready to dump its business.  although times are tough, I also think they know they could get more a few years down the road.  That proposition they mentioned is something they are probably already working on much in the same way Disney came up with strategies to fend of Comcast.

Please sign the petition at http://saveab.com or click the Eagle1 on the top left of this site.  This is more important than just saving parks.  And while I don't really like their beer, it is our American heritage at stake here.

And to help demonstrate why AB is worth saving, watch this commercial - http://youtube.com/watch?v=nlC9dLzfDfc

An American Tradition that Mr. W isn't allowed to take part in for another few years ;)

Wade, that article is also old news...and nothing further seemed to come out of it...it's an election year, there will be a LOT of posturing, but I sincerely doubt there will be a political blockade of this transaction if the shareholders and boards want it to go forward.
