Different. When Matt and I rode S.R.O.S, we found it to shift allot and compared to other rides I've had on it over the years, it was rather slow.
Prepare to weather the storm!

Sounds cool. Hopefully they will get rid of those horrible restraints. Go back to the original intamin lap bars Six Flags!

Many things may happen, but they will not be going back to the original restraints without modifications.  It seems there were at least three major incidents involving that restraint system.  Note the differences between Kingda Ka and Top Thrill Dragster's restraints.  The Supermen: Rides of Steel and Perilous Plunge incidents make a return to the original restraints virtually impossible.

Yes, but they could go with a new seat configuration and use the Toro restraint system.  It seems the design/angle/height of the seats were a major player in the accidents.  The Toro trains are nearly the same with the exception of this new seat configuration.  And IMO, Toro has more extreme negative G's than any of the Supes so an accident would have probably already happened by now if it weren't safe.

Personally, I say way to go Six Flags!  There is nothing wrong with breathing new life into existing rides.  I'd rather see them do this instead of plopping down yet another ride.

That is true, the shin restraints absolutely are horrible. I hope they dont put in OSTRs, they shouldnt though.

It should be awesome to see how they retheme it!

haha OTSR on S:ROS. I wouldn't worry about that.

Exactly what I was thinking with the El Toro restraints. They should just convert to similar restraints. The modified restraints on SROS have a similar idea as to what is on Toro. Your legs are between the restraints, just with an added piece between your legs and uncomfortable shin gaurds.

As for TTD's restraints and KK's restraints, I always thought there were OTSR on KK because of a law that New Jersey has that Ohio may not that requires OTSR on any coaster exceeding a specific height.

If such a law exists, it is totally ridiculous! What does height have to do with staying in a ride vehicle? Like falling 200' is less likely to kill you. ::) But hey, it is New Jersey...

Weird things happen in Jersey, weird things

All kidding aside, I believe they went with it cause it was the safer option, DONT hold me to it. The OSTR's the seat belt will still hold it in the VERY UNLIKELY event the OSTR springs up

Personally, I liked the freedom of TTD's restraints better

Actually, I heard a rumor that the re-vamp is they are switching the track out and building a Millennium Force, CF gave em the blueprints ;) :P, I would love to see you guys reactions if that actually happened.

a.  INTAMIN no longer offers the TTD restraint system in North America.

b. If S:ROS became MF, I would cry and never ride it again.  I LOVE S:ROS.  MF?  I'd rather ride the average park bench, quite frankly.

They have to play the Superman Theme as the on board audio track.
I'm skeptical about this transformation.  It already has tunnels and fog in a tunnel.
What more could you want?

The better leave Nitro alone!

I'm still trying to figure out where the "rumor" of OTSR's came from... I don't remember reading that on any of the articles talking about the "Improved" SRoS... My bet is they'll just add the audio system to the existing trains, re-hab them like they do every year and give them a new paint job.

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

Oh, and I'm also willing to bet money that it won't be ready for opening in 2009... and if by some chance it is, it'll be a one train operation for a while.

Any takers?

The press release says Memorial Day 2009 so it probably won't be ready for opening.  Unless they're planning to open it, but just not have everything complete?  Plus, there will probably be complications so who knows when it will open?

Not a good move, especially after it being down most of 2007.

^And how hard can it be to get this done by opening next year? How is there any excuse for it not being done until Memorial Day? It's not like they have to build a ride which could easily be done before Memorial Day anyway. ::)

I think that RobbW just said that he hopes they don't put OTSR on SROS and I thought the idea was funny. I don't think OTSR were rumored anywhere.

I didn't just mean this site though... every site that I read has about 2 or 3 pages of people rambling about OTSR's... just seems like a waste of whining to me.

gotcha. I find it kind of weird and silly that people would even consider putting OTSR on the coaster.

Also includes an update on the proposed height ordinance changes and a cryptic reference to an October 8 NYC SIX corporate meeting:
