Once again, the rumors have been circulating about an other ride closure, this time Houdini's Great Escape! If this is true, I am very sadden by this, being this was my favorite atraction at SFGAv. What do you guys think?'

Why would you want to see Houdini revamped like Spongebob?  Just because it may be leaving over there doesn't mean it has to be put in at Houdini!

Obviously I don't want to see it closed.  BUT, I'm all for it if they are simply overhauling the themed elements or improving the show.  Take these rumors with a grain of salt because a lot can change at this theme park in the course of only one week.  It seems like word gets out after somebody in upper brass merely suggests such a drastic move or this could have been mentioned as a "plan B" if things start going really bad this year.

Sometimes it actually stinks knowing TOO much information because it can actually sway your opinion on things when there is no reason to even get worked up.

I'm taking the wait and see approach.  For rides like the Autobahn or Musik Express, they can at least completely close the section off and dress it up.  Somebody thats never been to the park won't know any different and those that have will likely presume they are working on the next great attraction.  Houdini doesn't have that luxury being right on Dream Street.  Having it closed would be a eyesore.  Plus, its a indoor attraction which I know they love and want more of (Dark Knight).  Now I guess they could be having safety issues again with the e-stop and fire safety, etc.  Who knows.

Trust me folks, this season is a make or break year.  They MUST do really really really well this year and they will do everything in their power to make it happen.  Closing a major attraction on the main midway I would think is a really bad start which is why I don't believe this one.  So Dainan, I hope you are wrong lol

No no no no you understood my message wrong. I meant is it being revamped LIKE Spongebob by getting a whole new story line and so on. Not is it being revamped to become Spongebob.

Houdini is such a cool ride to have there. It makes me forget I'm at a Six Flags and feel like I've been transported to a Disney park or a classic park with very rare, unique attractions. Really hope it opens soon.

Dutch Wonderland still has a classic Mad House the size of a backyard shed, it's terrifying.

I just read a report from SFNE's opening day saying that their Houdini was open.  At least we should get a chance to ride it this year when we visit SFNE, although we like the GA version of it much better.

The first couple of years Houdini was open it was fantastic!-it really was as good as a Disney ride! But then they backslid on maintaining it-not all of the effects in the pre-show(Chinese water torture, etc) or main room(Crystal Ball, basic narration) were working, leaving some people clueless.I hope they either revamp it or reinstate the old effects!

I hope Houdini opens next year. Blackbeards can't be the only good ride left from the crazy '99!

And no, I'm not forgetting anything else... except some rides from Looney Tunes Seaport?

That doesn't matter Dan since most of the LTSP rides won't open in 09' anyway.

That's what I was thinking. I am hoping the Submarine and Barnstormer stay. It's nice to have A flying carpet ride in a big park. If I were a betting man however, I would put my money on the kiddie tea cup ride and kiddie airplane ride 1 of 4 staying.

When Houdini was operating, it was a pretty reliable ride.  I only remember it not operating during a visit when they decided not to operate it last season.  I wouldn't say it was a great ride, but it was ok.  To me, the re-rideability of it was rather low, unless you had a Houdini virgin in the group.  It would be fun to watch the reactions of newbies to the ride, but that's about it.
