Yes.  A major one seeing as it will be down all of 2010 to reopen 2011 for the 50th Anniversary bash!

The new Texas Giant will also be a more immersive experience, as riders will now find theming as part of the ride, especially in the queue area.

Who cares about themeing on a wooden coaster. Add some theming to the holes in the central section of your flagship park!!

magnetic brakes, more airtime, and one of the steepest "banks" of any wooden coaster. The 'new' ride will have it's work done by Rocky Mountain Amusements, a company that helped build El Toro and has worked on several industry projects.

He offered up many examples of the cuts that have been made, for example last year a full season pass at Six Flags Over Texas cost $84.99, this year just $59.99. Six Flags is aware that families across the country are looking for affordable fun, and they're ready to help them out with that. With the length of time spent in the park by guests up again this year
People like a good deal? Whatdayaknow? I hope he learns that people in NJ like flat rides before Jesus returns.

On a happier note, I'm happy for the second half of the summer results. Attendance and spending was up over the first half, though that is the norm. SFoG bounced back after 1400 man hours of clean up. I believed they would do it!!

1. You don't tell me to lighten up. Try a little respect for your elders and for those who worked at the park to make it better.
2. There financial situation proves this.
3. Gerstlauer trains are not a step in the right direction.

Such anger in this thread!

And ya know, I think this is the first time the Tornado for us has been officially mentioned - has anyone seen it anywhere else besides the Asbury Park Press?

The Tornado is official. I actually just got the press materials yesterday while I was out of town. And of course, it had the obligatory tag line of "a tornado is coming to NJ" lol.

believe me! the slide won't go. I've been down that road before, asking that question. They said they will get a new slide every year! but know , the newest slide is hurricane mountain (i think). But know that they are doing better money wise , if it is coming it would be behind the waterslide right next to discovery bay

Please read the other threads about the tornado. It's been confirmed various times and also when this site says it's true, it is. We pride ourselves on keeping things factual. :).

So what's this about Magic Mountain getting another rollercoaster next year, to bring their total count up to Cedar Point's again?

http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/index.php/cedar-point-magic-mo-5502/

I hope it's a Dark Knight coaster :D

If it's a Pandemonium or Tony Hawk I'll be sad.. I want one of those here :(

Anybody else scared that these might be the Mega Zeph trains?  The new Gerstlauer trains actually don't look that bad but if they are using the older design... well, this absolutely is a step in the wrong direction.

For those that haven't ridden it, Texas Giant is an extremely powerful woodie akin to The Voyage in terms of its powerful forces and sudden directional changes. It also varies from being kind of rough to downright very rough. If you think Rolling Thunder is rough, Texas Giant would kill you. :)

Even if the structure was completely rebuilt with modern, sturdy techniques (not the way Summers/Dinn did it), G-Trains would be a horrible experience on the ride. There are way too many laterals from all of the directional changes. Laterals + Gerstlauer restraints = "ouch!" IMO, the current PTC trains are fine in terms of comfort, but they beat the crap out of the ride, so they should be replaced. But G-trains don't track any better than PTC's and they are far less comfortable.

I really don't get why they wouldn't invest in single-bench trains like GCI's Millennium Flyers, PTC's new single-bench model, or better yet, the new Gravity Group Timberliners. That would ensure precise tracking and minimal wear and tear on the new track/structure. If they are going Gerstlauer, they are likely re-using trains they already own, so I think Wade is on to something.

How can you say that when they are thinking of things to build, chain wide in 2011? This 50th anniversary plans were announced around...I wanna say April. If thinking two years in advance isn't longevity, than I sure as hell don't know what is.

Alrighty then. You have to make your posts more detailed or else no one is going to really know what you are referring to specifically.
