For the last few years CP has opened in May. It is a tad colder up in Ohio.

Not to mention groups were the mainstay of the early business...and Cedar Fair's group business is down drastically.  It has been ever since the closed Geauga Lake...which is one of the factors...though the main one is the northern Ohio/Detroit economy, which is very anemic.
