Uh, SIX is taking coasters OUT of Kentucky Kingdom. Twisted Twins hasn't run for quite some time. The park is...uh...CHANGing.

So basically megalites are to hyper coasters, as mini-me is to Dr. Evil? In all seriousness though wouldn't expanding them just be a hyper? I guess you could just add length and not height but then you would be in a similar price range as a hyper anyways. The Megalite in Japan was said to of cost 14-15 mil.

Quick rant on Fahrenheit again.. How much better would it be if the layout after the 97 deg. drop was more like a megalite, and less on inversions. I'm guessing cuz 6 inversions appeal to the GP more so than a WHOPPING 0 INVERSIONS! haha. 97 drop + Norwegian roll + megalite layout would have been dope.

Back to the topic. The more I think about this the more I think this is smoke and mirrors. The next BGT coaster has gotta be a B&M. Doesn't it?

Parks make business decisions on what rides to put in, based on many factors, from cost to maintenance to ride appeal to relationships with manufacturers. I would point out to you and others that Busch has been very much in play during the past year or so...to say the next coaster has to be from any particular manufacturer is to view the industry as a rider or enthusiast would. Put yourself in the shoes of management to the extent you can. Much more perspective is gained that way.

No. This is subjective, but here is my take...

Typically a hyper coaster is an out & back design (not Raging Bull). And it appears the Mega-Lite is a production model (all four installations thus far are the same design) and it is a compact almost twister style layout with the airtime hills of a traditional out & back design, but has lots of curves to pack all of it into a small footprint.

My comment about expanding a Mega-Lite meant to maintain that tight, compact, airtime-filled twister style of layout, but make it larger and with "full-length" trains. I was aiming for essentially the same layout, but with larger elements to accommodate the longer trains. You can't just drop a 9-car train on a coaster that was designed for a 4-car train. It would change the dynamics and forces exherted on the riders.

You could almost make a case for intimidator 305 fitting this mold. Again though massive in height. But it has tight turns and air-time hills. I guess we'll have to wait to ride it to know for sure.

I like the idea of a megalite for BGT now that I think of it. BGT has alot of family's going there and I bet the coasters they have already seem very daunting to younger kids. I know when I was younger I would go on anything... as long as it did not go upside down. A megalite is a nice bridge between (wildmouses, Minetrains,Family coasters) and full size adult coasters that are either monstrous, or have inversions.

Yeah, i305 has the style of layout, but obviously its "Giga" height makes it way too large to be an "expanded Mega-Lite".

Screamscape has reported BGT is making an announcement feb. 25th. Not necesarily about the next coaster.

I worked up my idea in NoLimits. I called it a Mega Mega-Lite. And I made it a B&M while I was at it.

It's just the production model name. I purposely didn't give it a real name to maintain the close connection to Intamin's Mega-Lite production model. This is what I meant above when I was trying to describe an "expanded Mega-Lite".

I was just thinking that eventually with the way that the economy has taken a hit on all of our parks, that sooner or later some coaster company would come out with something small and for a small price that rocks. Obviously a little bit too late to save a place like HRP, but still... I think these megalites are a look into the future. Bet you B&M comes out with something similar soon.

and by the way, they look just like maverick.
