So does this mean Kahne will be taking over Martins spot? Or if Martin feels good, does he try to resign and they shift Junior out of the way?

Martin and Junior are signed through 2011, It is unknown wether Martin will retire after this season or the next... Junior and Martin can be moved to one of the Hendrick supplied teams like Stewart-Hass or James Finch Racing, Khane could also do this sort of thing in 2011 and everyone else keeps their ride. It is unknown right now and Hendrick and all the associates have a very large amount of time to sort this out.

There still is no word on what Budweiser might do with sponsorships, they could move with Khane, stay with the #9, move to another team or drop the sponsorship program after this year.

Denny Hamlin wins the Samsung 500 at Texas. Primary note: This race was postponed until today for rain. I got to annoy the hell out of my afternoon teachers so I'm happy.

The next race will be at Talladega on Sunday around 1 p.m. This race will hopefully be nothing like what happened last year...

Nothing new in rumors...

Johnson is your points leader with a 100+ point lead over second. Reminder, after race 26 that gap at that point will be gone and reset by the win totals for the 26 races.

My bad, been occupied for this week. Kevin Harvick pulled an amazing last second (literally) pass on Jamie McMurray to win Sundays race at Talladega. A couple of records were broken that day: lead changes, leaders, and winning interval(.011 seconds).

The next race will be Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, VA. This track is considered one of, if not the best racetrack(s) in the country. It is a three-quarter mile D-oval short track that behaves like it's a superspeedway.

Dale Jr. announced that he will drive the #3 Wrangler Chevrolet @ Daytona for the Nationwide Series in July. The car will be the series COT (Car of tomorrow) and will have a similar paint scheme to Dale Sr.'s car from the '80s.

Johnson is still your points leader with a slimmer lead due to a sub-par finish and Kevin Harvick's surprising win to put him in second in the points.

Kyle Busch won at Richmond on Saturday. Making a pass on Jeff Gordon with 5 to go. the next race is at:
Darlington, SC
Saturday, May 8th
7:00 pm

A big move with Penske for next year. The team will switch Keselowski(#12 to #2) and Kurt Busch(#2 to #22). Sam Hornish should be moving to the #12 if Verizon keeps their sponsorship, if not he'll probably stay in the #77. Keselowski will drive the Miller Lite Dodge and Kurt Busch will have to move to a new car which will be sponsored by shell. Kevin Harvick, who drives the #29 currently sponsored by Shell will not have a sponsor for next year, yet, and his contract is up at the end of the year.

Kevin Harvick is also leading the points by 10 over Jimmie Johnson heading into next weeks race.

Wins do not equal championships in Nascar. They have had years where drivers won many races and didn't win the championship. 2003 was the most notable year for this:
-Matt Kenseth won the championship with only one win
-Ryan Newman had eight wins and he finished 8th in points

*2003 was one of the reasons why they installed the current chase format used today.

-5 points for leading a lap(the first lap you lead is the five, the others aren't)
-5 extra for leading the most laps
Here's the link explaining the points they earn for wining races.

Denny Hamlin won the southern 500 at darlington. Johnson didn't finish at darlington for the first time in his career when he got blindsided by Allmendinger's brake failed, spinning car.

The next race will be at Dover Speedway in Dover, DE. Yes, Dover. I-95 to route 13 and it's across the street from the UofDel. Trust me, I've been there before and I'm going again this year.

Nothing new in rumors and Kevin Harvick is still the points leader.

Kyle Busch wins the Autism Speaks 400 at Dover. I rather enjoyed this race since I couldn't hear myself think even with earphones.

Next race will be a non-points paying race.
The All-star weekend is a little different than the regular events so you might want to check the Jayski link here:
http://jayski.com/stats/2010/all-star2010.htm

This race will take place at Charlotte Speedway in Concord, NC. They will be there for the next two weeks.

Again, nothing major in rumors.

Kurt Busch wins the All-Star Challenge, bagging a cool $1,000,000. The next race will be the Coca-cola 600 on Sunday around 5:30. The cool thing about this weekend is that the Indy 500 is on the same day at noon.

Brian Vickers will be out the rest of the season due to blood clots and Casey Mears will be his replacement in the #83 toyota.

Denny Hamlin wins the Pocono 500 in the Poconos, Pennsylvania. Denny did so on a green-white-checkered restart right at the 200 lap mark, making the race 505 mile long. Kasey Kahne spun down in the grass and re-entered the track immediately getting T-boned by Mark Martin and hopping the rear end of his car over the back-stretch wall and bouncing off a small tree knocking him back on the track. And before that, Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano got together and Joey drifted all the way around turn three before finally spinning and bringing out the caution.

The link to this wreck can be found here:
http://www.nascar.com/video/cup/2010/post_race/sights_and_sounds/06/07/cup_poc_sights_sounds.nascar/index.html

Joey made a crack on Harvick saying his wife wears the fire suit in the family. Now Harvick's wife, Delana, is selling shirts that say "I wear the fire suit in the family" and is selling them for $15 all going to charity.

Travis Kvapil and the #38 car will be penalized 150 drivers and owners points after illegal bleeder valves were found on his tires both before and after the race. Three crew members on the team will be suspended for 12 weeks, also.

The #83 will not be running Casey Mears in the road course races this year, instead they will let German Touring Car Series driver Mattias Ekström drive the car after a very quick and simple test session at VIR earlier in the month.

The next race will be at Michigan International in the Irish Hills of Michigan. This track is the two-mile long "big brother" of auto club speedway and is known for it's very high speeds going into turn 1. Some drivers can possibly reach 210 mph going into turn one at this race. Coverage begins on Sunday around 1pm.

Some rumors:

-Larger restrictor plates will be used at Daytona in July. The restrictor plates will be 1 1/32 inches and will help the cars make up for the drag created at Talladega, ironic because the cars were doing 195 by themselves...
Thank you Jayski.com, for this news:
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news-plate

-Tylenol will be officially leaving Nascar at the end of 2010, due to large cut-backs in advertising after three consecutive health-code violations.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#tylenol

-Wal-Mart could be joining Nascar this year, becoming the official major store of Nascar and having the rights to sell merchandise. Wal-Mart could also be sponsoring a Hendrick Motorsports team or multiple teams in the series along with the full series sponsorship.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news24tue

-GE will be sponsoring McMurray at Michigan this week. the #1 car will be sporting GE reveal lightbulbs and GE will also give Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing free lighting fixtures in their shops in North Carolina and Indianapolis, Indiana.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news1wed*
* click the link at the bottom of the article on the site and it will show you all the schemes the #1 car will/has run this year. Look for the blue car, he'll be running that one this weekend.

Sorry that I wasn't able to update during the week, I was studying for my school's final exams for this week.

Denny Hamlin won at Michigan on Sunday. Making him 5 and 11 with the new spoiler so far. The next race will be at Infineon on Sunday on TNT.

The nationwide series will be racing at Road america this weekend which will mark only the second time one of nascar's top three series raced at the famed road course. This race will be on saturday on ESPN2 at 3:30.

Rumors:
-Nascar plans to remodel the front-end of the sprint cup cars next year in order to make the car brands more identifiable. SpeedTv has been saying this all week and I haven't really seen any articles on it.

-Sorenson will be moving to the #83 at New Hampshire in two weeks , replacing Casey Mears who'll move back to the #90. Ekstrom will still drive the road course races.

-Kasey Kahne could be moving to the #09 car(James Finch Racing). This car is a Hendrick partner car, so it's very similar to the tech that Hendrick Motorsports uses.

-The chase format could be changing soon. No word one what would be changed, but Nascar is asking the driver's and fans on what they would like.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#chase

Kevin Harvick is still your points leader, but his lead has been steadily decreasing for the past few weeks.

Jimmie Johnson won at Infineon on Sunday. Carl Edwards won at Road America on Saturday. The next race will be at New Hampshire on TNT around 1:30 p.m.

News:
-Robby Gordon will skip this week's race due to lack of sponsorship. But his team will have a replacement driver and they plan to race about 20 or 30 laps before pulling the car out of the race.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news7tue

- New Hampshire is banning vuvuzelas(the droning horn noise in the world cup events) for their race weekend. The track manager is even going to destroy some in the pre-race ceremonies.
http://jayski.com/pages/tracks/nhms.htm

This is really all that has happened during this week. And if anything else happens, I will post it.

The only time you could hear them would be under red-flag conditions. And the last time that happened at New Hampshire was I think 2004.

Jimmie Johnson wins at New Hampshire.

Next race will be back at Daytona on July 3rd around 7:30 pm on TNT. This will be a wide open broadcast with "no commercial interruption."

News:
- 25 nominations for the Hall of fame will be announced thursday at 8 pm on speed.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news-hof

- Robbie Reiser could return as Matt Kenseth's Crew Chief next year. Kenseth has had 5 crew chiefs since Reiser was promoted to GM of Roush Racing in 2007. If Reiser is to be the new crew chief, Jack Roush will likely hire Robbie Loomis to replace him as GM.

Kevin Harvick wins the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona. This was quite possibly the greatest race this year with an 18-car big one in turn three, a few small pile ups and a green-white-checkered finish.

Dale Jr. won on Friday in the Subway 250 driving the Childress-DEI group tribute car to the late and great Intimidator (JR's dad). Dale practically dominated the race in the new Nationwide COT Chevy Impala. I like to say it, all the cars in that race looked absolutely sexy especially the #12 Dodge Challenger(Black w/ Verizon logo) and the #98, #6 and the #16 Ford Mustangs.

Paint schemes can be found here:
http://jayski.com/schemes/2010nationwide.htm

Rumors and News:

- The schedule for 2011 is already being changed, with huge differences to the previous years.
First, the knowns. California will be stripped of it's February race and that race will most likely be given to Kansas, This is ISC's wish. New Hamp. and Atlanta most likely will also lose races for Las Vegas and Kentucky, This is SMI's wishes.
http://jayski.com/pages/tracks/kansas.htm

- Ethanol might not be used in 2011. By speculations and wishes to depend on biofuels during the races.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#ethanol

- An elimination Chase Format could be used during the chase in future seasons, possibly starting next year. This is the current favorite among other ideas for the chase and is most likely to be used.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news-chase

- The 2011 Hall of Fame nominees have been announced. The list of drivers can be found here:
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news-hof

Points:
Kevin Harvick is still the points leader after 1) winning the race and 2) by DNF's from many of the chase contenders after the 18 car crash in the latter part of the race including Jimmie Johnson and others.

Next Race will be on Saturday in Joliet, IL on Saturday around 7:30 pm EST on TNT.

Preoccupation and procrastination are nasty when put together...

There was an off-week last week so nothing new for the cup series...

BUT, The Edwards vs. Keselowski feud has been reignited with C4 and rocket fuel. Because of a nationwide series accident that took place between the two at gateway international in Missouri on the last lap less than 750 ft from the start finish line. Edwards made contact with Brad Keselowski, who was leading at that moment (ready for yet another win), spinning the #22 dodge into the outside wall. Keselowski tried to regroup and nurse the car across the line and instead spun it into the inside wall stopping mere feet from the finish line. He the preceeded to be T'boned and rear-ended within seconds forcing him across the line and absolutely destroying his car. Edwards took the win during the race while Keselowski got a sub-10 finish, a totaled ride and a second free experience this time in the spin cycle. Both are invited to settle their feud in school buses in Charlotte, NC.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news12tue

Edwards fate will be decided soon, which I will post if it does happen. For those who want to speculate about it, the vid is here:
http://www.nascar.com/video/nationwide-series/2010/post_race/final_laps/07/17/nns_gat_high_final.nascar/index.html

The next race is at the Indianapolis Speedway in Indiana(polis). The race will be on sunday at 1:30 on ESPN. Indy is a 2.5 mile long rectangle with two long straights, two short straights, and four high-speed low banked turns.

The trucks and the nationwide will race 22 miles away at ORP (O'rielly Raceway Park) on friday and saturday night respectfully. These two races will be incredible since the fastest way around the track is inches from the wall, instead of inches from the infield.

News/Rumors:

-Boris Said will drive the #83 Red Bull Toyota at Watkins Glen International, in place of Reed Sorenson.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news83mon

-Nascar is looking to limit the influence Sprint Cup drivers have on racing in the Nationwide Series. Many teams in the nationwide series rely on Sprint Cup drivers to drive their car for wins, owner points and especially the championship.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news-nns

This is really it. But again, if something comes up with major significance I'll post it.

Jamie McMurray wins the Brickyard 400. Chip Ganassi must feel so proud being the first person to win the triple crown of american auto racing (daytona 500, indy 500, bricky 400) in one year. The ORP races once again were exciting as ever as Ron Hornaday won on friday in the trucks and kyle busch won on saturday in the nationwide series.

The next race is back in the Poconos as the trucks will be joining for their first race in PA, ever. The trucks will be racing on Saturday while the Cup series runs on Sunday at 1:00 on ESPN.

News/ Rumors:

- Nascar could be moving towards fuel injection in the coming years, with a few test races in 2011 and possibly moving in full time in 2012. McLaren Electronics seems to be the primary option for the tests.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news-fuel

-Marcos Ambrose will be leaving JTG Daugherty racing at the end of the year, Ambrose believes he'll be racing for RPM next year since he believes he's close to finalizing a deal with the team. No news on what car he'll drive if he joins the team.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news47tue

-One that I forgot was that Edwards has been penalized with a fine, 60 driver/owner points, and put on probation until the end of the year. Keselowski will also be placed on probation until the end of the year.

-Jimmy Elledge, crew chief of the #83, has been penalized for infractions during practice before the brickyard 400. The #83 car, when inspected, had an improperly attached weight during a practice session on 7/24. Elledge will be fined $25,000 for the infraction.

Jack Roush had a fun day on tuesday. He crashed his plane in Wisconsin and is currently listed in stable condition.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news17tue

Bobby Labonte will replace Marcos Ambrose in the #47 toyota starting in 2011. Ambrose still hasn't signed with a new team yet.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news47wed2

Gateway will NOT hold nascar sanctioned races in 2011. Dover Motorsports, owners of the track, has decided that the economy around the race track is not good enough to consistently support races. They will follow through with the remainder of their races in 2010 including the Oct. 23rd Nationwide race (Danica is competing). Dover Motorsports also shut down Memphis Motorsports Park in Tennessee due to similar reasons last year.
