Best part of car in each ride...
« on: April 08, 2006, 07:11:11 PM »
What part of the car will provide the best experience? I'm particularly interested in these rides:

Nitro
Ka
Medusa
Chiller B
Chiller R
GASM

I always prefer to sit on the inside of the car! :)

Nah, seriously, part of it is a matter of taste...

Nitro:  most of us prefer the back outside seats, though the front is not to be missed!

Kingda Ka:  The back seats of each car (not train, CAR), are rougher than the fronts.  Here THE front seat of the front car is THE one to aim for.  Prepare to wait, but it's worth it.  And how.

Medusa:  Same story as Nitro (gee, it's a B and M, what a coincidence!)

Chiller (B or R makes no difference, but it's harder to ride B of late!):  The very front is awesome.  The back is too.  The front seats of each car have less room than the backs.  Or vice versa.  I forget...

And it doesn't matter to me as much as it once did, thankfully!

Rolling Thunder:  You didn't ask, but you get this as a bonus!  The fronts of each CAR are the smoothest.  Again the front is awesome.  The back of each car has the most air and is the roughest  The third row (back seat of the first car) is known as the magic seat.  The airtime is phenomenal, the ride is a bit like a bucking bronco!

Nitro- Back seat for overall ride, 3rd row for most airtime.

Kingda Ka- Front row, by far.

Medusa- Front row, amazing view and added floorless effect.

Chiller B- Front row.

Chiller R- Back row, cobra roll is much more intensified.

GASM- I prefer back row, wilder ride.

^Pretty much hit the nail on the head. I'll add what seat though :P .

Nitro- Back row, far right, inside of hammer head.
Ka- Front row, left, second launch. The spiral is slightly more whipping, I think..
Medusa- Front Great view, floorless effect
Chiller B- Front, cool hangtime.
Chiller R- Back seat, wildness.
GASM- Any row, front row of the car

im going to have to disagree with everyone so far and say that i enjoy king in the back seat.  You all can wait an extra 10 minutes for your front seats.. i know what its like to marathon in the back of the train.  And it is good.

If I EVER only had to wait an extra 1o minutes for Kingda Ka's front seat, I'd either be on the first ride of the day or be in splendid ecstasy!

dude, it doesnt matter how long you have to wait for the front seat to me.  Im just making a statement that i would much rather take the back seat or closer to the back before taking the front.  I feel like the launch is stronger and you whipe around the tophat more than you do in the front.

Have you ridden it in back since it reopened in August? My 1 ride on back seat was probably the most painful ride on a steel coaster I have experienced!

And it's all opinion. I will NEVER ride KK's back seat ever again. IMO it's just too rough. And to me, I would much rather witness the launch from row 1 or 2 (2 for the shorter wait!) and get the airtime on the camelback. Plus I love staring straight down the drop!

As for the rest:
Nitro - Back Row. Definetly! Front Row at night is awesome as well, but for day-to-day rides, I go back row, Right seat!

Medusa - Has to be the front for the view. If you don't want to wait for the front, go for back row, right seat.

B&R: Chiller - I love the front. Especially on Batman. Launch Rides just kick it from the front row!

GASM - Again Front. To me, the back is just a little too intense.

Try riding 10x in a row on the back seat of Ka. I had to do that at the commercial shoot, it wasn't fun.

I did about 8-10 in the front at the same when they had the Helicopter up.
One of the most awesome sequence of rides i ever had. (see avatar)
you must have been on the same train or at the same time.
I yes the front is great just hanging looking straight down into the 270

Yes the back, after a few the spine starts complaing

Medusa: front
Nitro:     Front and back  on the ends
Chiller:  Front
Scream M: Front
Ka: Front or 2nd row front  or in a pinch any elevated back seat
RT: Front or back

the last few times I been a single rider so front is easy to come by

My gf and I were lucky enough to get trapped in the middle when we stopped the cycle because the helicoptor was low on film.  If it was the back, I'm sure I would have been asking for a break like those guys were.  I think the most we did in a row was like 3.

Chuck, were you the guy that finally had to get off, even though they were telling us not to? I was stuck in about row 3-4 of the rear train when they stopped our "ROTATE" program for the Helicoptor.

And I remember my girlfriend and I saying "It can't be that bad" while getting slightly annoyed at the kid that wouldn't ride anything other than the front row.

Yes we had a nice rotation system going.
I think I suggested it as I wanted to ride the front and said we should just keep moving forward so we get a ride in each seat.it worked great
I'm surprised so many on this site was there.
If anything like this comes up again let me know as I will for all of you that is needing riders.
If only they could match what they did with Ka on EL Toro that would be awesome.  I'm ready to go at the drop of a hat 24/7.
I also had a slight headache I guess from the repeated excelaration luckly the girl with all the bruies on here underarm had some aspiran that took care of it.That second day was what 13 hours + .
And as always the GrtAdv staff and PR dept. was great and always so friendly even when I see them in the park during regular times. It's hard to believe a big corporation can be so in this day.
