Photo TR: Disneyland and Knott's
« on: June 01, 2006, 03:15:56 PM »
So instead of our annual Memorial Day trip (well, annual for the past 3 years) we decided (kind of due to gas prices) that we would just head down to Disney and Knott's for Thursday and Friday of last week. We left the house at about 730am on last Thursday and made it to Disney shortly after the 9am opening.

Waiting for the tram:

Josh is ready for Superman:

We get to the entrance gates and see a HUGE line for Disneyland. They had just opened up the gates for DCA so we opted to head over there first since we still wanted to eat breakfast.

Mmmm ... This is Kristi and Gregg's first Cinnamon Roll in like 2+ years:

After grabbing some Soarin' FPs we headed for Monsters Inc.:

Then to Tower where we got 2 rides because somebody was videotaping:

We then headed for Paradise Pier:

We hit up Screamin' with little wait and then headed for the Sun Wheel, which also didn't have a wait.

Amanda took a nice picture of us:

Josh looks worried on the Sun Wheel:

The four of us on Mulholland Madness:

Gregg, Amanda and Joshua go on GRR:

We had lunch at WhiteWater so Amanda and Josh had to say hi to the bear:

We then headed over to Disneyland, the new Dapper Dans were out:

Big Thunder before the chain broke and was down for 3 days:

We then did the Mansion, Train, Space Mtn and a couple of other things and headed to Knott's about 4pm.

Amanda waiting for Silver Bullet (it was a bit bumpy)

Waiting for the Log Ride:

The back-side of water ... Knott's style:

I liked this shot of Xcelerator:

Josh went on Montezooma's Revenge for the first time ... and loved it:

So after an hour and a half at Knott's we were done. Went and checked into our Hotel (The Hyatt Garden Grove), had dinner at Red Robin and pretty much spent the rest of the night chilling in the hotel since we wanted to be at Disney early on Friday.

So Friday we got up and made it to Disney about 830 (they opened at 9)

Mmmm ... Coffee:

Josh and Kristi waiting for the rope drop:

We headed for Peter Pan first:

Where is the door?:

We then did Alice and the Matterhorn with no waits.

Beware of sharks:

Amanda and Joshua with Buzz:

Amanda and Joshua with PUSH:

We had breakfast, got some Space Mountain FP's, rode Buzz and Star Tours then headed over and did Mansion.

The new bride:

It was at this point that Amanda started not feeling good. She was trying to fight it but it was obvious she wasn't feeling right ... as evidenced in this photo.

Do I not feel good, or is it because I'm on It's a Small World?

Josh is happy:

A true Southern Californian:

So about 1pm we decided to go. Instead of making Amanda sicker. We checked out of the hotel and had to pay for Friday night and headed home.

We had a really fun two days, we were all sad it got cut short but it was a good thing we left early because by Saturday Amanda had a full-blown ear infection and wasn't doing well at all.

She's better now BTW.

^ I would have to agree, those shots of  Paradise Pier reflecting off the water are great.  Tell Josh don't worry,  I'm scared of the Wonder Wheel myself at Coney Island.  I'm also glad to hear that Amanda is feeling better and you guys had a great time last weekend.

Thanks for the nice comments everybody. Before we go next I want to get a mini-tripod so I can take nicer pics ... especially for night shots.

Did you get on Xcellerator? I still think that is one of the best Rocket Coasters..

You torture me every time Gregg.  Now if I'd just stop going to WDW 10 times a year I could afford a visit to the west coast!

Maybe... just maybe next year after the subs open back up :)

^ The subs look like they are going to be awesome.

We are going to be at WDW in October if you will around then.

/\  I'll be in WDW the end of August through early September and then I'll be there solo for work during the 2nd week of October (what else is there to do after meeting when you have a AP?) and then we'll be there again mid-November.

Gregg, a bunch of us do HHN in October while I'm there on business if you are interested in joining us!

^ Kristi and I would LOVE to do HHN ... but we have the kids and they aren't ready for that yet. Not sure if we want to do the whole babysitting thing either since it's our first trip to WDW.

If we do though I will let you know. We will be at WDW from Oct 21 through 29. We are doing USF and SW while we are there and 'possibly' doing BGT (or is it BGA now?).
