Today I decided to go to SFNE for a comparison of El Toro and S: ros. Ok, not really! I really went to make sure the restraints were going to fit me before I spent a dime on a gold q-bot this coming Thursday.
I left my house way early, around 4:30am. This gave me plenty of time to make the opening ceremonies if I ran into any traffic. After passing a couple Ikeas I was at the park. Surprisingly, I have been to SFNE three times but never mange to get on one coaster. Mainly because I?ve had my daughter with me and we just end up In HH.
After the opening ceremonies we are escorted to the Gotham city entrance. Here we wait another 5 minutes as the Justice league screams ?are you ready to ride Superman!!!? Yes, I say, let?s go already. We make our decent down the ramp to the station entrance were we wait again until they are ready to open the line. Great we have to wait another 5 minutes as they check my height. After about 15 minutes I make my way to third row. I read somewhere that the seatbelts are longer in the first row of each train. I had no problems with the seat belt, just problems with leg room as my leg seemed to be pinned in an awkward position. As I was trying to reposition my leg the train rolled out onto the lift hill.
Once on the lift hill I forgot about my leg for the moment and stared to the left at the Connecticut River, Wow, what a view. The ride was really good, but only riding it once I can?t tell how much I really liked it. The scariest part of the ride is hitting the break run only 50 feet in back of the other train. Favorite parts of the ride are-
First drop tunnel, Hill leading into first helix with pop of air, second tunnel shower, final two hills, and just pure speed. Is it better then El Toro or vice versa, I have no clue, maybe after ten more laps I will know.
Batman and Flashback won for the most head bashing. I?ll try Batman again, but not the boomerang. Batman also seemed to short of a ride to really enjoy.
Thunderbolt won for the most fun. I can?t remember getting thrown around like that on a wooden coaster. This thing had some crazy air to it.
Cyclone is insane in the back row. The first and third drop Killed. The brake also kills the ride but I guess it needs it. When people say a coaster is "un- re- ride- able" this coaster comes to mind, not Voyage.
Last coaster review Poison Ivy. Just like Black beards but with more landscaping and a better queue. Other than that it?s just a credit.
I also rode ripsaw (Flying carpet) as a request by text message. I was disappointed as it only cycled twice in both directions. Maybe a three minute ride if that.
Mind eraser was down. Trust me I wasn?t that upset. I was also going to try catapult but it got stuck upside down. Mr. Six looked fun but I?ll wait until I know other people in the car before riding. That's pretty much it as I left the park at 1 to be home by 6pm. Glad I did, I only had 15 minutes to spare. It took 3 and a half hours up and close to 5 hrs back. I'll have more pictures Thursday but for now here you go ...
