Photo TR: Disneyland
« on: July 19, 2006, 11:08:00 AM »
Here are some pics to share from our weekend down at Disney. We had a really awesome time, despite the heat. Sunday was MUCH less busy than Monday (due to DL's 51st bday stuff).

Here are some pics: (and about 200 more here: http://greggandkristi.smugmug.com/gallery/1680360/1 )

On the way down we had a blowout:

After taking it to the tire store it was determined that the same thing was about to happen to all 4 tires ... so $360 later we were on our way:

Sunday morning, 8am and it's HOT already:

First stop of course was Pirates:

Captain Jack is greeting us:

They do a little pirates show in New Orleans Square now, it's pretty cool:

And then Jack Sparrow comes out to greet you (sorry, this was the best picture we could get, he was getting SWAMPED)

Splash Mountain was the place to be due to the heat:

The Hub had some nice pretty flowers (anybody know what these are?)

The Hub:

The Tiki Room was another great place to beat the heat:

Along with a Dole Float:

We had a nice lunch at the new Cafe' Orleans, which we all enjoyed:

Kristi didn't want to ride the Orange Stinger:

I took some nice Paradise Pier shots (at least I think so)

Back over at Disneyland:

Sunday Morning we check out of our hotel, the new DoubleTree on Harbor. Thanks Priceline for $50 a night rooms:

Back at Disneyland, it was alot busier and about 10 - 15 degrees hotter than it was on Sunday:

Over at DCA it was hotter (due to lack of trees or something) but the crowds were managable:

We left at about 1:00, had lunch at Red Robin then drove home on our brand new tires.

Overall we had a great time, can't wait to go back.

Any reason why your tires blew out? That must have been scary. Its a good thing no one was hurt.

Great Pictures as always. Glad that you had fun.

^ It turned out the tires were 10 years old.

The car was my wife's grandparents when it was new ... then they gave it to my in-laws about 5 years ago. Then we got it in January this year. Well it turns out because the car never got driven much (it had 40,000 miles on it when we got it) nobody ever changed the tires. Well, they were cracking (because they were old) and with the heat this past weekend they just had enough.

Luckily it happened in an area we knew (right by Kristi's work) and not in like Compton or something.

I miss disneyland. Looks like you had a good time, minus the tire problem.

I just keep thinking how that flat tire reminds me of the scene from Vacation with the loose lugs nuts with the tires wobbling.  I'm Glad things didn't get out of hand and every one was safe. I guess Kristi must of been driving. ;D   Well I'm Off to look at all 200 pictures. Hopefully  I'll show up in one of those pictures eventually!

hmmmmmm, just a guess but I don't think Kristi reads this site LOL

Awesome TR as always.  I totally wish we could just "stop by" Disneyland like that.  You never know, maybe some day ;)

^^ She doesn't, but I would say it to her.  :D

^ Loved the updates. They kept the feel and story of the original while adding the new stuff.

The first 1/3rd of the ride is pretty much the same, up until the tunnel between the treasure set and the battle scene. The lighting, sound, etc have all been plussed and sound better than ever.
