Offer/Need a Ride
«
on:
October 11, 2006, 02:03:20 PM »
Thread for Rides and trips or People that need a ride or can offer a ride on the Way to a park and or Room share at Coaster Events.
THis saves on fuel cost and a good way to meet other Coaster enthusiasts.
-
If you are going to a park and have room in your Vehicle and Don't mind a person tagging long you can post it here if you like.
-
Also if you need a ride just post your request here.
My wife doesn't like to ride coasters and I love coasters so sometimes I go it alone and can offer room in my Vehicle or Rental car.
I'm in the S.Jersey / Philly area so I will post if I ever have extra room or pickup on the way.
I already have a Kennywood / Cedar Point Trip in the works (never been to either) for Next year and a few to Virginia and Maybe Midwest and New England.
A Little late in the season for starting a thread like this but good into next year.

If anyone needs a travel companion I can share in the trip cost.
or
3.
can share a room if coming from another location ?
I'm Near Clementon park 10 miles from Philly
I hate to just drive out there myself
believe it or not I never been to Cedar Point thats even after being a

Tom, I'll be going to this event... Chuck is probably going with me. Our plan is to drive out to Ohio Wednesday night, we are staying in Cleveland to pick up my friend Matt from Iowa at the airport, then going to CP for Thursday/Friday... Saturday we are going to go to Conneaut Lake Park and Waldameer in the morning (if Conneaut opens) and then go to Geauga Lake around 7 or 8 and close the park, and then do the ERT. Sunday we drive home. If you can swing it, you are welcome to join us.
p.s. - Depending on time constrictions... we might try to squeeze in Kennywood on the way home Sunday, but it will be tough since my friend Matt can't get any late flights home on Sunday night.

Fly if you can grab a southwest type deal for 49 bucks each way. Otherwise, drive it.
For me from the Philly area its between 8 and 10 hours, depending on weather, traffic, etc.
To fly into Cleveland, you would have approx. $115 airfare and then a rental car but you would be there in 1 hour. Plus, much less on gas.
Driving is always more affordable if you have a group though since splitting gas and tolls makes it cheaper. Thats why we bring my parents to FL sometimes

Southwest rocks the only Airline I been using for the last year.
I'm heading to Florida again in May and for $49 each way.
I don't know if they have the $49 to Cleveland but they have it to Columbus

Correction, I meant Columbus lol
Cleveland is still a tad far from both CP and very far from KI. If you wanted to hit GL on the trip then maybe Cleveland is a good option but otherwise, Tom is correct, do Columbus.

this link is good for airfare,Car and Hotel comparison they just don't list Southwest ?
www.farecompare.com/maps/compareDestinations.html
then click on the map very cool
www.farecompare.com
Yes I flew out to Columbus last year for actually $39 plus taxes.the airport was very easy to get around there was no one in the airport at all.
rent car
then drove to PKI,SFKK,Beech Bend,Holiday World,Indiana Beach, SFGam
then flew back home from Midway for around $59-69
I wish they had a low airfare flight to Louisville Ky so its easy to get to Holiday world
SFKK is only a few miles from Louisville airport and about 50-60 miles from Holiday world.
Cedar point is about 60 miles from Cleveland airport
If they had the $49 airfair to Cleveland that would be the way to go to save time and Like Wade said if going just a few people
I checked my Delorme Street Atlas 2007 and from my House in S. Jersey to Cedar point is about 490 miles yes 8-10 hours

I've done CP 3 times now and every time was 8-10 hours, 10 being the worst I had due to traffic mostly.
I've seen 49 bucks to Cleveland which isn't to bad to CP at around 1 1/2 hours but its brutal to KI. I think it took something like 4 hours to get to KI due to the roads you need to travel and traffic. So if you fly to Columbus, I'd def. start with SFKK and KI and then end at CP.

Now there is no excuse why I have never been to CP. I am going to make it a point to get there this summer.

Point? I don't have a point
Anyway, I'm thinking more and more that the lure of Maverick may be getting me there this year as well.

Since so many from here may be there, I may actually find myself at Coaster Mania for the first time in many a year.
Or not. Could be a good day for a great adventure!

Yeah, Cleveland, home of crappy teams except LeBron James
When me and my dad drove there from Cooperstown, it was within 45 minutes from Cleveland, Jacobs Field was all lit up!
However, I find Ohio outside of Cedar Point, a depressing place...No Offense
