Title: Six Flags 50th Anniversary Wishlist
Post by: rjholla2003 on August 05, 2009, 11:54:34 AM
Since Six Flags announced that for the chain's 50th anniversary in 2011 that big things will happen, I'm curious as to see what people would like to see happen.  Since next year will most likely be quiet as they gear up for 2011, I'll start off by using my post from the "Next Year" topic, and expanding on it.

My wishlist is :

This (http://www.universalorlando.com/amusement-parks/islands-of-adventure/attractions/adventures-of-spiderman-ride.html) themed to The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight Coaster themed to...something else/

And now for the more reasonable stuff:
THIS (http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index%20Pages/giantfrisbee.html) by Granny's in the ready-to-go pad (or maybe THIS (http://www.dollywood.com/rides-attractions/ride-detail.aspx?AttractionID=570))
Replace Tango with the resurrection of this (http://greatadventurehistory.com/RodeoStampede.htm)  Who doesn't love a good breakdance with a great theme, lol.
A Mondial Shake (http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index%20Pages/shake.html).  This as Catwoman's Whip was one of my favorite flats in SBNO...I mean...SFNO.
Another fave flat from SFNO, the Soriani & Moser Super Loop on Top (http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index%20Pages/superloopontop.html). This as Lex Luthor's Invertatron was simply awesome!

And with that, let the wishing begin! Feel free to be outlandish, but do us the favor of letting us know when you know you're being unreasonable as well.  Keeps the flames on low...not that we've had a fire.  O0

more themeing up to the level of dark knight, id like to see our own joker themed coaster, or ride of some sort. more flats, more in park water rides, be great if movie town was brought back. alot more ride maintence and refurbishing would be sweet also

The Breakdance where Tango is/was wouldn't be a bad idea, we just have to steal it back from SFoT.

I wouldn't mind bringing this back either,  as long as it's run like the one at SFGAm ..

Those can be so much fun.

Techno Jump is personal favorite flat ride and wouldn't care if every park in the country got one.

I would like to see a Dive coaster in place of Rolling Thunder or GASM. Sorry but these are my least favorite rides and sorry to say but I would like to see these rides go in place of a better ride. Also LOTS of flats and better theming.

There's one in Ocean City, NJ on Playlands Castaway Cove. They really are the most fun you can have on a ride anywhere LOL

 Here is what I want:

An Enterprise in the vacant spot near the Skyway station in the Lakefront
A log cabin themed store at the old Tepee spot, or something close
A hydro flume at the vacant Freefall spot
Speakers added to Nitro (getting a little silly)
New stage events
Replace wiggles world (not the Seaport) with a better flat ride (something like a Shooting Gallery/ Haunted ride thru attraction) getting silly
And better themeing

I would like the return of more flats . Swings , a jump ride , the bumper cars , a new splash down with a bigger hill rodeo stampede , enterprise any or all of the above . Things that really would be a "War on Lines" . These would also keep the kids that are not yet 54 inches but just over 48 happier.

What is everyone's fascination with Dive Coasters? I'd pick a solid small wooden coaster, or small ride like Maverick, preferably without OTSR's over a Dive Coaster any day of the week (actually come to think of it, anything no Vekoma will do :) )

Dive Coasters are made by B&M (same company as Nitro, Medusa yada yada yada) and they have a near vertical drop, which is usually pretty tall. After the drop though, there isn't much to these rides. Very "gimmicky" but the crowds love them.

Griffon at Busch Gardens Williamsburg

They are very photogenic though.

^ Griffon is fun, but I could see it getting old if it were closer to home. A drop tower would be better.

My list shrinks from year to year...

but unfortunately Rolling Thunder is STILL on it.

I will take anything but a coaster. Actually, a good flat or two and another water ride to replace the ones we took out would be nice.

They cant comercial flats, just that picture that comerical "come brave the all new world of the swings" They need a new coaster if they are going all out

You can commercial anything you want.

SFGadv does not need any new coasters. They have enough for he next 2 or 3 years.

Flats are cheep there just not going to add them.
Title: Re: Six Flags 50th Anniversary Wishlist
Post by: WadeJ on August 06, 2009, 03:28:56 PM
The correct terminology would be "Market" a new ride.  And yes, you can definitely market a flat ride.  Just ask Lake Compounce, Hershey, Cedar Point, Kings Island and just about every other Six Flags park.

With the current state of the economy and the fact that turnstile clicks are way down this year, you aren't going to see any major coasters next year.  If you do, it's a huge mistake.

Honestly, we could have had two major flats or an insanely awesome drop tower for LESS money than the Bizarro overlay that was done to Medusa so even that is hard to swallow sometimes.  Perhaps Bizarro was enough of a success that it was worthwhile but time will tell in that regard.

This is a fun ride . We enjoyed it :) . Would like to see one at SFGADV maybe with a theme that fits in with Batman and the Dark Knight area ?? Where the arena is or where freefall was ? Just a thought .

Not necessarily the same theme...but themed...that well. :D

It's usually a mechanized object which rarely runs as it should no matter how much money is poured into it.

Rolling Thunder would be the antonym of a lemon.

I just watched the escape from pompeii video... some what unrelated, but I heard Cedar Point is getting a auqatraz coaster next year. I've seen some of these water coasters and find them to just be log rides that are considered coasters. Upon further review found out there is only 1 aquatrax coaster and its totally different. Take a look if you're unfamiliar.

I would like to see....

A themed boat ride similar to the one at SFoT (bugs bunny and yosemite sam at battle) replacing the Northern Star Arena, and have a concert venue near Main Street instead

GASM replaced with a dive coaster, "American Eagle" would be a perfect name since they have the rights to it, and it would go with the "Boardwalk" theme

More theming all around the park, Golden Kingdom is the best themed, so add that level of detail all over.

"The Dark Knight" gutted and replaced with an indoor launched coaster, or "Skull Mountain"

More flat rides! We could use the space that GASM took up and add freefall, a new looping star ship, and maybe a maXair, etc.

Rolling Thunder RETRACKED

ride maintence, themeing, and flats are what we need. no more fancy coasters, or nething of that sort(idea of replacing skull moutain with a indoor lauch coaster rocks), and overall better ride operation and feeling of comfort

1. LOWER PARKING FEE AND PASSES
this is the first thing people see when entering the park/property and get the feeling of being gouged or a sense of things to come like outrageous food prices. Many of my friends haven't been to the park in years because of high costs(not admission)

2. All you can eat buffet like Cedar Point has
The cost of the food for a family is greater then the cost of admission
many times I left the park to eat at the local food chains down the rode

don't get me wrong I want Six Flags to make money as I'm a stock holder but I want people to make return visits

3. as we all know more Flats

4. More shows for non-coaster riders
What happened to all the stage shows and cool acrobats that once performed in the indoor theater its a great place to cool off and add to the full day of entertainment.

5. one of these two rides below

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/LpzFsTmVkBk&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed </embed></object>

Food prices in the park don't really bother me . It is really not that expensive to eat there . 39.99 chicken or Pizza deals is great for a family  . We get two drink cups ( with the wrist band for free-refills ) a pie , two cheese breads and a salad for 39.99 or the chicken bucket with fries the two drink cups and four cookies for the same price .These deals are pretty good. Now I noticed there are burger deals and in the park too. Food there is not all that bad considering other parks we have gone to . Bush Gardens was costing us about 60 or more for the same kind of meals without the free refillable mugs.

Title: Re: Six Flags 50th Anniversary Wishlist
Post by: rjholla2003 on August 26, 2009, 01:25:04 PM
I'm assuming that by "feet down" you mean "with a floor" since Batman and Bizarro both have your feet in the downward position.  My question is: Why have a floor when it's not necessary?  Having a floor doesn't add to the ride in any way.

Also, while GASM is a classic, and I do enjoy it, I also recognize that it beats up on people and merely cannibalizes Superman's spillover.

I say SFGA does a giga coaster to bet Steel Dragon 2000's 318 height in japan and bring another title of it's coasters. I say to match the 50th anniversary make it 350' and put it over near nitro, that side of the park needs another coaster. Yea they could also add a huge drop tower at the same time. By 2011 the economy will be back on track and more people will come to the park. I live in maryland and we have a lot of friends that travel up to the park instead of going to our closer one in DC. If they post more commercials on tv down here people will make it up there for the 50th anniversary.

Sounds like beerfest all over again. It's not a bad idea though.

It was a party in lacey a few years ago. There were two accidents with DUI's And such. The copss blamed the free beers ads, yet there were people who drank 15+ beers and tried to drive home.

It wasn't that bad. nobody was severely injured. Just a few cars were lost and my parent's insurance jumped $200. They weren't even involved with any of it either.

TDK is ok, just get rid of the bus/truck horn and it would be so much better.

Now as far as 2011, i want flats, and a tower.

Still being open, some flats that don't close when it pours, scatter them around the park would be nice, and a Mega-Lite Coaster near Bizzaro. If there are more rides "open" during "bad" weather, people will still come. If they think rides will all close, they will not come. ;)

Well, my 50th anversery wish is for my theme to be in the "Skull Mountain" coaster! My theme is called "The Lady In The Lake". "It's a story about a girl named Alex who lives in New Orleans in the 1920s. She is poor, and she goes to see a witch doctor named "Dr. Claws". She asks him for money and fame, but he turns her into a mermaid instead. She then meets a young man named Robert and they fall in love. They both then try to stop Dr. Claws from takeing over the city." The characters are so cool, and the story is perfect for the ride. Hopfully SF will get my email about this idea! Wish me luck! Let me know what you guys think of my idea!

Here, the spamming has basically been ignored by everyone. On facebook, in the nicest way of putting it, there might be someone who'll think it's a good idea there, not here.

For your information Mike13, I just got an email from Six Flags. It said that we are one step closer to haveing "The Lady In The Lake" come to the park. I am telling the honest truth! We just need to get the go ahead from a few people who work behind the scenes at the park. They said "Skull Mountain is one of our classic rides that is in need of some work." So, I will keep everyone updated on what's going on.
Title: Re: Six Flags 50th Anniversary Wishlist
Post by: GADVwow on February 10, 2010, 05:51:20 AM
Is this the same type of truth that you told when you told us you had permission to have your musical in one of Great Adventure's venues?

As one who is intimately familiar with this process, just exactly who at Six Flags signed this e-mail?

And who at Six Flags, in an e-mail to you, said Skull Mountain is in need of some work?  Mr. Shapiro (who reads this website from time to time, by the way), will be most interested in your answer.  I will be sure he finds out.  And as others here can verify, I can and will make that happen.

If I were you, I'd not post things here unless they are true.  There are too many people too close to those who run the park and the company and who know how things are done.  When you post things that are not the truth, you do not help yourself, to put it mildly.

The sad thing is you could have a future in this business, but acting like this is not helping.  Not at all.

Title: Re: Six Flags 50th Anniversary Wishlist
Post by: Nitro230 on March 03, 2010, 09:54:02 PM
The problem with that statement is that being Cedar Point East would be a good thing. They have built up one of, if not the best flat collection in the country/world, they have just as good, if not a better selection of coasters, and are  outstnding when it comes to water and kiddie rides.  We lack flats, water rides, so we aren't Cedar Point East.

Why does everyone want a new Musik Express?  Jolly Roger is practically the same ride but with a theme that fits its area.  Why would you want a crappy generic Musik Express that you can find in any fair as well?

Be glad we didn't get the 5D after all. Low capacity and from what I've seen it would have been very disappointing. It would have been a bigger let down to the GP than TDK was.

Regarding the empty theater, I'm actually wondering what would be a good fit. While the old show sucked, at least it was indoors with AC and the kids could ride it. Now we have nothing. I agree though, no major loss there other than the actual loss of what we had.

It would be nice to get some staple rides back though. Swings and maybe some bumper cars?

I wish we had a set of really nice Bumper cars as well.   Maybe a mix  of cars like IB, Rye, Quassy  or even the scary ones at Keansburg.  I know Knoebels already has a lock down on  all Lusse  Skooters  but that would be Ideal. : )

Some indoor flat rides with effects!

How about an Everly Monster with fog, strobes, lasers, and music?

Bumper Cars is a no-brainer, but I can't imagine they'd be able to get away with anything even close to the intensity of Knoebels' skooters.

I'm sure they wouldn't be amused by even that post.  Being sworn to secrecy (if one actually even knew anything) does NOT mean going around telling people "Neener, neener, neener, I know I but I can't tell you."  That alone is violating a confidence.

Besides, it is not known as being sworn to secrecy.  It's known as having signed an NDA (non-disclosure agreement).  One of the terms of every NDA I have ever seen is that one will not even disclose one has signed it or is bound by it.

Sigh.
