Look in this thread and you will see the horrible new paint job it has.
-
Wow.. why? The red/pink looked so much better! :?
-
I'll admit the ride needed a paint job badly. But that is just horrible :(.
But the other pictures are even worse :( Being somebody that grew up going there, that was painful to see.
-
yeah that was a little sad. That was such an alarming color and now instead of scaring riders away.. its more like.. hey, come ride me im friendly tan!
-
LOL Nick! Think they want it to blend in with the sand? It really is sad to see it this color.
-
It doesn't look alive anymore. It looks fairly bland and boring. The pink color brightened that whole pier up, and now its just going to be a yukky tan color.
-
That pink had to be the worste color scheme EVER! So happy to see this. It's not the best color, but better than that pink.
-
The pink may not have been the best color and I admit that it needed a new paint job, but tan is just way too neutral for the ride. Personally I think if they wanted to change the color they should have changed it to red, or some other vibrant color. Well at least it's getting painted to look at the bright side of things.
-
Red would have been a perfect color for this, or at least a color scheme that had red in it. That all goes back to the "Red Sky at Morning" comment I made in another thread. Tan is just wrong!
-
it WAS red. Think about that that ocean and the weather down there does to it? Extreme wear and tear. I have pictures of it being mainly red. It was very faded. They should have repainted it its original color.
-
Oh, ok. I thought it looked more like faded red than pink when I went, but people stayed calling it pink. Thanks for clearing that up.

Yes, but I doubt they wanted it to turn into that disgusting pink again. This'll turn into a dirty white.
-
Ewwww....that looks terrible with tan! The redish color fit the boardwalk feel and the red just felt right. Tan is disgusting....
-
Thst's a horrible color. It looks like a sand sculpture.

Thst's a horrible color. It looks like a sand sculpture.
Maybe that's the look they were going for ;)
-
I think they wanted to match the slides that are right near it, there the same color. That thing was a huge eye sore when at the water park.
-
I dont agree. I thought it was a ver striking thing to look at while you were sitting in the hot tub.
now im kind of curious to know what they will do with the trains.. the restraints have red in them i believe.
-
^ Nope, there just black. Well any coaster is great to look at while sitting in a hot tub for us enthusiasts. But on the other hand with GP I doubt they want to blandly see that.
-
The question is...
How can you not see it? IT's huge and goes right over half of the waterpark. Mine as well make it a good color, not tan.
-

The restraints are black, but the shells on the trains/seats are actually a purplish color. Which I guess could work with Tan since its a neutral color but I don't know.
Here is a picture...

That looks atrocious.
-
^Thats what i said. Hopefully these LED Lights they are installing will make the ride look awesome looking. Night times will be a must now instead of day time rides.
-
Yeah, im thinking they painted it a neutral color so that they can change the light color and pretty much make look however they want at night.
-
If you've visited Wildwood lately, you may have noticed that The Great Nor'Easter looks a little different. Actually, a lot different! Check out the pictures. The final color coat is white. Why white? Well, the color is an important part of the lighting upgrades we have planned for the ride. Specifically, we are installing
32 high power color HID lights with shutter & strobe capability. These lights will be programmed for some spectacular effects and an even more intense ride experience.
The new loading station is receiving 320 feet of computer controlled LED lighting similar to what was installed on the Giant Wheel in 2005. It will make for another amazing light show!
To complete the transformation, both trains are receiving a new color scheme that's sure to get the adrenaline pumping even before you take your seat!
i knew something had to be going on. WEll, it will suck during the day.. but at night maybe this would be a pretty awesome expereince afterall?
-
I guess so. That's one Vekoma that I never rode, and it looks like I'll have to. I'm a sucker for lights and things.
-
^what do you mean you've never ridden the Nor'Easter  ?!?! How can you even call yourself a NJ coaster enthusiast without ever having been on her ? J/K I'm messing with you.
-
Feel free to bash. I rode every other coaster there (Yes, RC-48 and Flitzer too), but I didn't ride Nor' Easter. I don't know what kind of crack I was smoking that day, but I still kick myself for not riding it. And I don't use the fact that I was barely into roller coasters as an excuse either.
-
It's ok RJ, I've never even been there. It doesn't mook that great to me, but it is always good to get a few new rides in! Great White looks like the best ride there.
As for the Nor Easter, the colors look bad...

the Nor'Easter is probaly the best SLC I ever rode and I rank it above Great Bear.
-
If you haven't been to Wildwood I urge you to go...its classic NJ. It's a part of history. Its just a classic boardwalk. Great White is the best coaster, and it is one hell of a coaster at that. New Jersey summers wouldnt be the same without wildwood.
-
agreed. I spent alot of time there over my childhood summers. I couldnt tell you how many times i have rode great white and nor easter. I enjoy both very much. The nor easter is pretty wild.. regardless of its roughness. Many people dont like it.. and i say its a shame for them. That just means shorter lines for me!
-
I love Wildwood as well. it's a shame i didn't discover it earlier when they still had some of the other wood and steel coasters there, like Flyer, Kamikaze, and Screem Machine. I missed out on quite a bit :( .
-
Having been lucky enough to have travelled far and wide, allow me to join in with those putting in a good word for Wildwood. I've been there many times. It's about a 10 hour trip for me, and I think it is well worth it.
I can't imagine living anywhere near NJ and rejecting Wildwood merely from looking at pictures, without ever having gone there.
-
Sorry if this has already been mentioned but, Nor Easter is ultimately going to end up all white!

I don't know how I miss your last post Di, but I was in wildwood today check it out . I only have time for one picture the rest will be up when I get home . Other things to look for are the replacing wood on Great white and new primer on Sea serpent. Back around 10:30 to finish, sorry.

Wow, Great Nor'Easter looks crazy. I dont know I actually like it a little.
-
It looks nice and all, but the all white color scheme is just a little bland to me.
-
According to some of my "sources" the reason for painting it all white is so that they can have different light shows on the ride at night... this is an awesome idea IMO, even though it will look rather boring and bland in the daylight.
Here's to hoping the trackwork done on Great White helps put it back in my favorites list!

If they are going to do the light shows taht might be really really awsome, since most of MP's patronage comes at night. I think it looks too bland, and it matches too well. Sea Serpant is already white, and the pink just made it stick out so much better.

rob, they announced that on thier website, i linked to it somewhere.
The night ride will make up for it.. but yeah they are definetely making it a light show

LOL, you are correct. I heard it from someone earlier today, and they told me to keep quiet. I read their site after I posted this and realized it was already public... strange??
It's ok though, thank you for trying to correct me.
