Tom, just a little tip until we fix the WAP home page...

The news artice on our home page which is what WAP navigates back to every time you hit "up one level" contains a WAP link back into the forums for WAP access.   Just click the GadvUpdates specific news article and check out the bottom of it.
http://gadvupdates.com/forums/index.php?page=61

Since that is accessible via your phone, it might save you some agravation.
Looking forward to it :)

hmm, if you can upload photos to another source like imageshack or photobucket from your phone, you could just use the IMG tags in your WAP post and we would see them on the regular boards.

will try
i'm on my 8525 cell typing this

edit:
 back on my PC
I will give that a try
get all the Links bookmarked etc.

I normally drive everywhere this time I'm a passenger so I'm not used to it
so I will have some time
I can also hookup my Cell 8525 pocket PC to my Laptop and get web anywhere so that may be much easier when I'm in car or Stationary

The first thing you do is get rid of Verizon and get ATT/Cingular
Verizon:
- Net Plans are to expensive $49-$59 and up
- CDMA Network means you have to use one phone
- No Rollover

ATT:
- you can get unlimited Net for $19 a month and use the phone as a modem with your laptop
- GSM Network used around the world and I can take out my SIM card and use ANY unlocked GSM phone (this can't be done with Verizon) I have many phones I use (limited to 1 with Verizon)
- Rollover  never get over usage charges  I currently have 4300 minutes rollover

Can you till I don't like Verizon I just don't Like the CDMA technology it locks you in to only one phone.
if my phone stops working I take out my SIM card and put it in my other phone or my wifes phone or in a Phone I bought off ebay for $20  etc. When I go on a Trip I take 2 phones.
I only keep my Phone for about 7-10 months then upgrade to a newer one and just insert my SIM card. then sell off then other on ebay or Craigslist.
Verizon phones are worthless

Chocolate you will need net accesses

Millennium force ?
yes I'm excited to ride it

or are you talking Magnum ?
Also I'm looking forward to comparing TTD to KK
and all the other coasters I been reading about in Rollercoaster Magazine (since 1986) even before the internet was big or even around (ACE member since then 21 years).
back then it was just Bulletin boards and Prodigy Compuserve  dialup was the biggest thing
Prodigy had about 1 million subscribers and AOL had about 100,000 now AOL has 27 million and I could have been rich if I bought AOL stock back then.

will be a fun time will try may best to post some pics on this thread

so when on this trip I will try to take pics with my cell phone then post them here from my cell.
I will also have my 10MP Canon with me for the better shots later

Tom, Magnum is the better of the 2 IMO. MF is WAY over rated... Wicked Twister is a good ride, Gemini is awesome, Raptor is good stuff, Disaster Transport was fun, Mantis is OK, Iron Dragon (I might be the only one who says this) is fun. You'll see.

TTD vs. Ka...

As much as I love my homepark, I give the nod to Dragster, easily.

checkout the Toboggan ride at Lakemont

what the total coaster count on this trip ?
Title: Re: Cedar Point Coastermania 6-15-07 TR Thread and Info
Post by: Robert T Ackerman on June 09, 2007, 02:18:20 PM
I know I'm getting 9 new credits on this trip now if everything is open (that's not counting the kiddie coaster at Lakemont since I know people that haven't ridden it.)

Total Coasters for trip go as follows:
Dorney Park has 9, but 3 are kiddie coasters (1 you can't ride)
Lakemont has 4 but one is a Kiddie Coaster (which you can't ride)
DelGrosso's has 2
Cedar Point has 17ish, unless you count Gemini as 2 and you can swindle a ride on Jr Gemini (hihgly unlikely)
Geauga Lake has 8
Kennywood has 6
Waldameer has 3
Idlewild has 2.
49-51 coasters if all are open and we can get on the kiddie ones! :)

I just rode a Toboggan ride at Ocean City yesterday, it was AWFUL and painful. I smacked my head on the roof about 3 times. It's fun until you hit the bunny hops at the end.

These 2 rides made up for the Toboggan though...

Im gonna have to agree to disagree here, MF met the hype in my book, especially if you sit in the very front row, its not an airtime ride but its a speed and shock kind of ride, Magnum hurt my thighs slighty from the airtime and the metal bar pushing on them, it was fun but MF was better, none the less both are fun rides

Oh I wish I was going and as for  riding JR Gemini  it was  easy for me but I had a 3 year old to ride with. :)

Here is my opinion I hate to say it but TTD does have the edge here over KK and as for MF I only rode in the back and the speed is amazing. I can't wait maybe next summer we will get back to CP . Please tell us how mavrick is .

Maverick is really that great! I don't like to rank coasters rigidly but I thought the night rides were better than S:ROS. It is crazy! I don't want to give any of the actual ride away. I can't ride it with my hands up because of the restraints. I preffered to hold onto the harness but it didn't kill the ride for me at all.

Someone got stopped on the train with me on the final brake run. The train behind us got stopped in the tunnel launch area. It was allot of fun though. We did the wave and a few old-fashioned Great Adventure "yee-haws" to pass the time. They had us off within 10 minutes.

I rode it 4 times. Twice in the back and twice in the front. Both have their advantages. There wasn't a disadvantage to either row.

Geauga Lake sucks. It's not even in the same ball park as Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. The coasters were running horriblly except for the Big Dipper, which was the ONLY enjoyable ride there. Operations were horrible. I came accross 5 closed rides in addition to the two that have already been removed. The trees even knew not to provide any shade.

We're now waiting to go back to Kennwyood. I've been up since 5, went to bed around 2:30 and I'll take that cookie. The woodies are pristine, we rode flat rides that you can't find anywhere else and we roder the best hyper just south of S:ROS SFNE. We rode the Jack Rabbit, Thunderbolt and Phantoms Revenge. All of them provided killer, painless air. We also rode the Gold Rusher dark ride, the Racer and I tried The Auto Race for the first time. It's no kiddie ride. They let us ride Lil' Phantom (woooo-credit) and I went on their crazy Wipe Out and got the last Noah's Ark tour of the night. All of the effects were working!

Today we'll be working on the rest of the park. It is a beautiful park to take pictures in at night. Unfortunately I kept the camera in the car. You'll find out why in the trip report!

We didn't make the Q&A at Coastermanina
but I found a little info from it below

"It included the President of Cedar Fair, President of Cedar Point, Director of Safety, Director of Ride Operations, Director of Engineering, Director of Ride Maintenance and the Director of Public Relations. It was very informative, there were a lot of compliments on Maverick from the enthusiasts. There was one complaint about Maverick in that it is a bit of a rough ride for shorter people. On the list of possibilities, they are thinking about a dark ride and a 4D ride. The panel mentioned that they realize that coasters don?t have to be record setters to be great coasters."

On Maverick I just old the over the shoulder restraints and pull myself up when floater over the hills.
or just lean into the turns.
head banging is not bad at all.
I found Maverick to be surprisingly  smooth

More Q&A from the Web.

" a gentleman asked the panel if they had any reservations about going back to Intamin after TTD. Following some small laughter by the panelists, which included about seven executives to which I can't remember any but Mr. Kinzel specifically, the answer was no. Kinzel expressed that he was dismayed that Maverick opened a couple weeks later than planned, and placed blame on the manufacturer, but admitted that Intamin delivered a satisfying product in the end.

He also said that there were 3 coaster proposals on the table before they settled on Maverick. One was similar to MF, one was similar to Magnum or something, and the other I don't recall. This got me to thinking about wood. I then grabbed the mic and asked if at anytime during the planning stages with Intamin, was an Intamin woodie considered?

His answer: NO. I followed up by asking will there ever be? his answer once again: NO. Ok then, thanks. None of it was demeaning, but the answers were clear and concise. Folks, I wouldn't go placing any bets on Intamin wood showing up at the point anytime soon. Taiko Sad

They were, however, very encouraged by working with GCI and Renegade. The vibe was that Renegade will be a measuring stick for future wood installations at CF parks.

Here's the rest of the highlights:

- There will definitely NOT be any B&M flyer at CP, ever.
- A dive machine is not out of the question.
- One of the gentlemen in charge of future ride installations or whatever, has been pushing for a darkride for years now.
- The earring rule on Maverick is implemented by Intamin, not CP.
- This is speculation on my part, but I'd look for KD to receive something big in the next few years.
- Demon Drop is still for sale.
- When discussing theming, Kinzel made the comment that if given the choice, he'd always rather spend an extra million on more track than theming.
- And on a lighter note, someone asked if they had ridden Kingda Ka? I can't remember who answered, but they said they were there to ride ET, and after pausing for comedic effect, said that KK was down.
- Finally, it was mentioned that it's a possibility that Clair Hain of GCI *may* eventually try to improve Mean Streak. We can only hope! "

I think you caught that pic RIGHT before I sneezed. God that night was bad, but fun at the same time. I've since thrown that shirt out (unfortunatly, I liked it, it was comfortable, but I was rediculously allergic to it) I have my pics online, but I'm still working on the TR so you can all see them soon enough.

Ehh, didn't miss much. From what I hear though Big Dipper is really good which was closed when I was there.

Big Dipper was running INSANE. Ask Matt, he wouldn't get off of it.

It turns out that they actually opened Big Dipper for night ERT after we left :(

Oh well, night rides on Phantom's Revenge and the other wood at Kennywood was a nice trade.

This would be my first time to Cedar Point.

I needed to relax for a few days after working two full-time jobs and I went on a coaster trip. Someday I will look back on this trip and laugh!

Here are a few pictures from the trip:

We would stop by Dorney and Tom and I would pick up our MAXX passes. I rode Steel Force in the front row but it's a back row ride for me. Thunderhawk wasn't doing too hot either but the crew was loading only the front half of the train so there wasn't much force.

Talon was running fast, powerful and smooth. It was the first steel coaster I've ridden this year!

Hydra was ok. I've had better rides on it. I could feel the joints, but it was only 11am.

Pennsylvania is all hills. We went to DelGrossos for a drive by.

We stopped by Lakemont Park to ride Leap the Dips, the oldest operating coaster in the world.

Lakemont has a Toboggan coaster which had been closed due to weather. I've been eyeing this type of coaster for years and I'll get to ride it some other time.

Lakemont has another wooden coaster called The Skyliner. It has a sweet first drop and a couple of nice negative-G hills. We rode a few times and went on to ride an old-fashioned Monster, Twister and a couple more trips on Leaps the Dips.

Cedar Point pictures coming soon!

The quality isn't bad. It's a little blurry on the larger videos, but for the most part, it's ok.

I'm sure some of the quality was sacrificed when you transferred it to the internet.

Did someone say my name? ;)

Maverick is fun. But Magnum is still the best steel coaster in Ohio. And Big Dipper was running even crazier than I ever remember!
