Post by: rjholla2003 on September 28, 2009, 08:31:44 PM
The FINAL showing of Saturday Night Lights was canceled last weekend, but has been carried over to this weekend. Make sure to get out to the park, and see the last showing!

Also, you may want to take a look at our Twitter page, where we keep you up-to-date with any breaking news in the park.  If you haven't used Twitter before, or you don't have a smartphone, you can actually set up text message alerts for our messages as well!

October 3rd's an 11PM close, but I heard it was at 10 on their Facebook page.  But it wasn't posted by the park.  Keep your eyes open though, you know we'll be ready with the confirmation!

Shouldn't it be on the coupon book for season pass holders? Cause mine says 11 P.M.

The park is open until 11PM so I'm guessing were concerned if the fireworks are 10PM or not?

Also, the weather outlook for Saturday could postpone them yet again but if you haven't witnessed this show yet then get out there!

We should all meet up at the Fountain and shake our fists angrily at the sky.  Maybe that's the anti-rain dance?
Title: Re: SATURDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

An anti-wind dance would be nice too.
10-15 MPH with 25MPH gusts?
Sunday is looking pretty nice.

That is getting better but the wind could still kill it. Maybe for once it will blow AWAY from the grandstand lol

It's a lot better than the weather right now, 62 with slight gusts where i'm at.

Oct 2  Friday night
A few showers in the evening with scattered thunderstorms arriving overnight. Low 61F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Oct 3  Saturday
A few thunderstorms possible. Highs in the low 70s and lows in the mid 50s.

Oct 4  Sunday
Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 70s and lows in the low 50s.

I'm hoping any rain is in the morning and will go away by evening, judging by how that weather forecast is

Never Trust the weather forecasters. I remember being under a tornado warning in Forked River in July. Nothin' but sunshine and high heat.

Don't be that negative, all unfotunate things eventually come to an end. I had a habit of getting hit in the face with random objects when I was eleven, it kept going 'til I was 14.

Fog + fireworks = Bad!
They can't seem to get a break for this encore show.

I've tried bringing my brother 3 times this season to see the show.
And each time it was canceled.
I give up...maybe next year (I hope!!).

Hey, they tried tonight. For a few seconds. And then stopped.

Best thing is that the smoke blew directly into Ka. I have video of it that I'll put up tomorrow for how obscured Ka was.

Hopefully the fireworks will continue. I want to see them sometime!

Post by: rjholla2003 on October 04, 2009, 02:42:50 AM
That was by far the thickest smoke I ever saw the show throw up.  It was so thick that you could hear shells going off, but you couldn't even see the flash of color unless it was a shell that went off right near the edge of the smoke cloud.  The fog on the ride to take my friend home, then go home myself was, and still is ridiculously thick.  Maybe 200 feet of visibility max.

Post by: coastermom on October 04, 2009, 10:16:08 AM
Yup another visit to the park and yet another chance to see the fireworks foiled by the weather . It was looking good there for awhile though . Oh well hopeful to see it before the end of the season ....6 times and counting
I have to say seeing KK disappear into the fog and some was crazy . Fog was bad driving home too .

They are going to try again tonight for 8:30. Weather looks great so it seems like it is happening.
Title: Re: SATURDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Post by: PcMan on October 04, 2009, 01:28:28 PM

Yes we sat down in the grandstands and it started out good (I seen Mark Kane standing in the center entrance watching) but just about 4 minutes in the FOG kept the smoke over the lake making it nearly imposable to see the firework
They then shut it down.

We all had a great time  10 minute wait for both Toro and Kingda ka
Ka was a walk on near the end of the night and they had 4 trains running all day
same with Nitro a walk on almost all day.

And Yes the Fog near the end of the night was very thick the Parachute lights looked like a UFO, Nitro you could only see the lift lights, could not see Ka, and the ride down 195 and the Turnpike was the most fog I ever seen on these roads

a great day to ride the "big" coasters with no waits
And the parked looked
- Very Clean
- All rides/coasters running with all train

I have some pics and video to post later

They resumed Saturdays show last night  starting with the Smashing Pumpkins.  The weather made for an amazing show. Clear skies with a full moon , wind blowing the smoke out and 70 degrees. It was the perfect setting.

Were there enough crowds on a Sunday night to actually see it?  I hope they got their money's worth by holding back the show for one night.  Those are the guests that you hope come back next season after seeing such an awesome fireworks display.
Title: Re: SATURDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Post by: Bubba Z on October 05, 2009, 09:37:49 AM
The bottom half of the Stadium was filled.  The crowd never showed up last night, it was rather empty around the park.
Title: Re: SATURDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Post by: jglonek on October 05, 2009, 09:49:05 AM
It was empty again yesterday? That's pretty weird. Was it more than the 6,000-10,000 people there on Saturday?

Seeing not even half a parking lot filled on a Fright Fest night was unusual. To hear it happened twice...
Title: Re: SATURDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Post by: WadeJ on October 05, 2009, 10:24:42 AM
Uggghhh.  I know we all enjoy the walk-on's but they NEED a huge crowd to show up.  Fright Fest is where they make up the bad weather weeks from the Spring.
Title: Re: SATURDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Post by: Bubba Z on October 05, 2009, 11:03:38 AM
Dead Man's party @ 9:30 had about 200 people around me.  The Haunt queue was empty near Nitro as well.  When I pulled up I said the same thing , "Wow the parking lot is empty"   Ka , two train wait at 6:30 for the second row. Again at 7:30 three train wait.   Nitro,  One train wait for the back at 9 o'clock.  Houdini's Great escape one pre show wait.  It was great riding that again.   Yeah it was Dead.   Great seeing friends of the park, as well as hanging with Steff, Matt , Ken and John squared!

For the last few years, the first weekend has never really been that busy. It is always the following weekend. I am hoping for the park to be busy next weekend for Columbus Day.

It always gets packed by halloween because people think you get a better scare when it's closer to the 31st.

I really would like to know how many shells they set of in that finale!

I have to give some huge kudos to Six Flags Guest Relations.
My Dad and my Brother (aka John squared) went with me to see the fireworks on saturday night.
We knew it was not looking good and this would become the third failed attempt for my brother.
They really wanted to go Sunday to see the conclusion, but I used up all my Season Pass coupons.
So I told them to call Guest Relations and see if they could do anything to get in just to see the fireworks conclusion.
Guest Relations was extremely kind and offered tickets at an insanely low price!!
And my brother finally got to see the show!
They both thought it was amazing (the fireworks and the treatment they got from guest relations).

Always good to see the park cares about its guests. I usually use my season pass to let people get the souvenir discounts.

Hope to see the fireworks next year . Way too many rain and wind cancellations this year hope that the weather will hold up better next summer . We went 6 times and only saw the one smashing pumpkins song our of 6 trips . It did look amazing though for the little that we seen.

Wade glad to hear Faith is feeling better today .

Finally saw the show last night. OMG! That was amazing! It's way better than the New York City 4th of July show! Saturday Night Lights is the best attraction at Great Adventure. It's better than ride they've got. It would be a real shame to lose it.

Glad to see the show returning. It was by far the most spectacular attraction at the park. It was more enjoyable than the July 4th fireworks I saw in New York City a couple summers ago.

Steve, if you get in line before 10, will they let you go or if your in line at 10 they close it?
Title: Re: SATURDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

The close off the lines at park closing and run them out. So as long as you are in line already you are fine.
Title: Re: SATURDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Post by: jimmybjammin on January 21, 2010, 10:16:21 PM
el toro waits in july/ early august on sat night were 20 min tops -i was a single rider though, entering el toro's line there usually 950pm. So it was easy to be watching the fireworks on el toro for my last ride. On july 4th you can see all of the shore's fireworks from the top of el toro right after the cable lift hill. They look like little colored ping pong balls exploding along the horizon continually..

You will not be able to get anywhere close to the lake to see the fireworks on July 4th as they close off the area due to the high concentration of people packed there just after 10pm

If you want a seat in the stadium any other saturday, be there 945, which is right after your done seeing the parade, if you're trapped at batman's exit. ;)

Title: Re: SATURDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Post by: AV Matt on June 23, 2010, 07:19:55 PM
Man, I hope not. The fireworks are better than any of the rides there. Not that the rides suck, but the fireworks are quite the special attraction that gives the place some pizazz IMO.

Saturday Night Lights start with a bang and ends abruptly!
The 4th of July Saturday Night Lights show was packed! Which was kind of strange as the parking lot was pretty empty.
Many new songs..  Jimi Hendrix - Kiss the Sky was my new favorite and Sweet Child 'O Mine does make a return.
For a full review you will have to wait for my next viewing as the show was cut short.
Lets just say maybe they should move the barges back a little further than they already did :o.

The Bon Jovi and Bruce songs are switched out for new songs from each artist.
Other songs have been removed, other songs are much shorter and fewer fireworks overall than last year.
The Smashing Pumpkins song will be missed!
It is still very good, but you can just tell they didn't spend the same $$$ they did last year.

If you missed last year go watch it on YouTube....this years Who Finale is not quite as frightening as last years.
