The lift hill on Green Lantern has finished, bringing the coaster to it's max height. I have to say it looks a little odd right there in front of Superman.
Here's a photo from their Facebook page!

Oh, for height details the lift hill is 154 feet, with a 144 foot drop.
-
I didn't know they were putting a mini nitro in front of superman!!!
-my uncle's words
-
It seems out of place.....
-
Looking good, Can't wait to see some the layout start to go up.
-
wow unless it is just the angle, but it is dwarfing superman
-
Well it IS about 50 ft taller so it's gonna dward the flyer no matter what. ;)
-
GASM would dwarf both of them =P
-
In some ways, many other factors must be considered when deciding what dwarves what...Superman or Gasm.
Wow...did he just say what I think he said?
-
considering where the lifthill was on GASM and where Green Lantern's is, GASM didn't seem as tall. I am sure GASM will still look much better in this spot than Green Lantern will.
-
Gasm was 188 ft. tall, while "chang" is now 154 ft. tall.
-remember that Gasm was once the world's tallest and fastest roller coaster. Plus it was one of the first three coasters built with seven inversions. (shockwave and viper respectively)
-
The layout of GASM was perfect for that spot. The lift hill made it a VERY prominent and powerful fixture on the Boardwalk. The second and third loops making the "smiley face" in the parking lot was always a welcome feature that I looked forward to every visit to the park. With Superman and Kingda Ka added in afterwards, the park's front line of the wall of coasters was very neat in appearance.
Green Lantern on the other hand will have it's lower points facing the park, immediately making it seem less intimidating from in the park. Also, the fact that it goes around Superman the way it does kind of looks sloppy to me, like the park is just throwing coaster upon coaster on top of each other. This is what I feel the mental picture was the first time I told my parents about Cedar Point and it's 16 [at the time] coasters. That isn't exactly a good thing.
-
Indeed...I have told friends that Mr. Weber is making Great Adventure look like Cedar Point. I agree...that is NOT necessarily a good thing.
Flat rides...please.
-
I agree it is not a good thing ... I also would like a few flats thrown in to our park WE need them BADLY !!
-
I believe Six Flags America has more flat rides than Great Adventure does.
-
While it may look strange from the same angle as the photo at the top of this page when its done it should look pretty good.

IMO, nothing can replace the artistic beauty of the Arrow Mega Loopers. So to that end, nothing else could have replaced it. With that said, I'm actually sorta glad they are at least placing a ride of this magnitude there since it's still good eye candy when you pull in.
And just to start the fun speculation, it was actually rumored just a couple years back that Supes wouldn't be staying. So you never know. I'd personally welcome this departure if just to get rid of the coaster clutter.
-
Superman for a mini GCI, or even a gravity groupie. That'd be awesome.
-
The park really needs another woodie, preferably on the Nitro side of the park.
-
reggie's Jersey Devil comes to mind...
-
I'm all for more wood as long as it doesn't have a stapling lap bar like Toro. But not 'til they fix their major deficiencies; i.e. stuff to do other than ride roller coasters and play games.

I for one would be happy to see Sup go ... I would like to see some flats and maybe a NJ Devil woodie ... anything but torn down rides with no replacements or another "CHANG"ed coaster !

They have games still? I thought all that stuff on in the boardwalk was for decoration!!!
-
They could have a tiger show....
wow, who just had to (someone call the fire department...ooops)
-
The fire department will show up this time though :P
-

My dream. Right over near (and playing with) Congo Rapids.
-
They should move Superman and put it over the Congo river and re-theme it of course.
-
Is there room for a Woodie over the Congo river?
-
Clear out a few trees and you could fit one in there. Trying to keep a great wooded run will probably make or break the roller coaster.

You have some space to throw a woodie (My wish: Gravity Group) back there. The map has the fencing up for Demented Forest, so you can see that even with that, there's some room for part of the coaster outside of Congo, a nice plot of land inside of Congo, and even some on the far side past the access road. With some imagination, you could do a lot there.
-
This is the first time I've checked the progress in a while, probably since closing day. Looks good so far, and I'm excited to see wat they plan on doing with the entire "area" of the new coaster.
As for getting rid of Superman... I have no problem with it staying, it seems like it pleases the crowds so I would be surprised to see it go. I'm not against another wooden coaster though.
-
They should just clone El Toro and mirror it.
-
Except fix all of the dead spots and other problems it has. :)
-
There are no problems, you're imagining it. Like on Coasterbuzz.
-
Anyone know or heard more???? I heard that the future of Green Lantern is uncertain at this point now. Apparantly the franchise for both the movie and DC Comics are claiming they never gave Six Flags the permission to use the name "Green Lantern" or "Parallux." So until the issue is resolved construction might be delayed.
-
Where did you hear this from?
-
Even if there were a licensing problem (there is not to my knowledge), construction would continue and the ride would be given a different name and theming. Most of the public would never know, and even fewer would give two hoots.
-
I have no idea if this is true or not since I haven't heard anything but keep in mind this did happen with the Dark Knight and look at what we have now... A bunch of coasters called The Dark Knight.
-
Usually they have these problems solved before they even begin to build the coaster. If we are really having that issue then Magic Mountain should be having the same problem. Six Flags has a strong agreement with DC comics and I'm sure they'll have this "problem" solved quickly.
I'm pretty darn sure there isn't a problem and whoever you heard this from has absolutely no clue what they're talking about, but this kind of stuff has happened before. Usually Six Flags has all the licensing issues solved before they go and market it on TV, Facebook and other media outlets.
-
Even so, It wont hold up the construction...It will just be changed to a different name.
This will also be solved before the ride opens, id bet alot of money on it
