Title: 2019-2020 Rumors
Post by: PcMan on July 21, 2018, 09:55:41 AM
Any thoughts on whats to come in 2019-2020?

Seems Great Adventure is many years behind in getting a new World class Coaster

Yeah its getting ridiculous in my opinion. We haven't gotten anything world class since El Toro. And we've lost 5 coasters since then (Both Chillers, GASM, Both Rolling Thunders). In Return we got a wild mouse, a hand me down standup coaster, and an s&s freefly clone. Even smaller parks like Fiesta Texas and Discovery Kingdom have gotten substantially more investment. Fiesta Texas has not 1 but 2 RMC coasters.

Screamscape just posted a rumor that we may not be getting a coaster for 2019 either.

I don't feel a coaster in our future just yet.

I think the location for the 2019 attraction will be in the Golden Kingdom where the Bloodshed trail was located.
I'm not expecting anything exciting.  People are now going to Great Adventure for crappy meals plans.  For the first time in many many years I'm actually considering no Six Flags season pass/Membership for 2019.

Unpopular opinion:

We're still good on coasters as a park. We still have a significant hole to address in the ride lineup for +48inch guests who do not like coasters. We need more family rides and thrill flat rides. This sucks for enthusiasts but is necessary for balancing out the park for the general public. I hope that when we do get a coaster again, it's by 2021 and a world-class addition.

Why not a small coaster like Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom though. It would fit into that 48 inch bracket and would allow those tweeners something fun to ride. It would also please enthusiasts since its loaded with airtime.

I'm talking specifically about that non-coaster riding crowd. When I have VIP Tours, those are my most difficult guests to work rides in for. If they don't like coasters, the pickings are rather slim for them.

10 more days until the park's "big" announcement!

Tom, stop getting your hopes up every year. I'll let you know which rangefinders for hunting are worth getting (https://www.villagevoice.com/best-rangefinders-for-hunting/) and when the park is getting a significant coaster

Are there any news about the new Coaster at this point?
