Wheres Chuck, RJ and Clint when you need em...:P
-
Waiting for my re-hire packet. ;)
-
We'll be bumping this frequently guys. PLEASE, help get the word out. They really want the staff and the new Six Flags has committed to making things right this year. If you were ever considering a job at ANY Six Flags park, 2007 is the year to do it!
-

A wah? Why do I need a job at Six Flags? I get paid $8.75 working at Staples. Im sure Six Flags would only start me at $7.15 with everyone else. So I would be losing money...I wouldnt mind running a coaster though.
-
Hmmm ? If I applied on Monday, When do you think I would start working? Can you work two positions at Great Adventure? Could I landscape during the day and operate a ride at night. How many hours can you work? Is it unlimited hours or is there an O.T. limit.
If people who work or worked at the park could help me that would be great. What are the chances of starting out at 11 or 12 dollars an hour ..or do noobs always start off at $7 an hour?
-
Overlord, just to make sure you are aware, not all positions start that low. And actually, I don't think any do now since they bumped them up. For instance, positions in Entertainment start around 8 bucks and can go up quite a bit from there. It really all depends on you proving yourself and having skills to do the job. You can move up fairly quickly to where you are now or possibly even more.
I guess what I'm saying is that it doesn't hurt to check into it and ask :)
-
SFI couldn't afford me ::).
-
I believe Park Services starts at $8 an hour now too. I was making $8.55 last summer as a lead and the frontline employees weren't making much less than I was.
-
Hannah, I will tell you right now that working doubles is murder. But, if you want to do that, you would have to talk to your department. It's preferred that if you work extra hours that you do it for your home department.
Here's the number for Human Resources: 732/928-2000 x2635
Give them a ring. I'm sure they can answer any questions you have.
-
If you want the hours you can get them, especialy closer to the end of the summer. My week at SFGADV I worked doubles non-stop.
-

Eh I am all Ride Ops. Theres no way I could put up with people other then that. Plus I like the Air Conditioning in the summer time. :) And seeing that work is only 6 minutes away rather then 20. All in all, its more efficient for me to stay where I am.
-
I'd work there, but i live WAY to far, and also i cant legally drive yet...
-
Ryan lives about the same distance from Gadv as you do and he still drives there...
-

How far is that?
-
Thats a good point, but does he pay $6 a pop going over the outerbridge :P
-
For you all employees on here, I am curious as to how many miles you drive each way to go to work at GA?
-
~24 miles a day one way.
-
175.02 miles one way, only to work for a week.
-
175.02 miles one way, only to work for a week.
So do you stay there for the week then Wheels? Where do you stay? What do you do during the week?
-
SFGAdv/SFA put some of us in international housing and some of us in a hotel. We worked a double at our park SFA and left for SFGAdv after we closed. Got trained on rides the next day and spent the week working rides if we were certified already if not they had them work line. I spent the week working KK.
-
No way! I am NOT working there!
-
Is anyone from here going to be at the rehire job fair this Saturday? You know I'll be there! :D
-
Hey RJHolla.. what did you do that the park last season?
-

I won't be there this Saturday. I will be there next.
-
I'm not RJ (obviously lol) but this should help you out a little ;)

-
I'd have to drive about 45 minutes(with no traffic) each way, and probably end up getting paid less than I do at my current job. It would sure be fun to do though...
-
I will be working in park services this year (hopefully). i worked foods last year, tranfered to rides, and then was released due to the money issues. so i dicided i did not want to work rides this year
-
SFGADv actualy let ride ops go when they where having budget issues? Most parks it was only entertainment.
-
ya they atually let some of the newere ones go (which was me)
-
When I asked about the "money" issues that had happened, I was told by a rather good source that those issues would not occur this season. They are properly funded in 2007 for the amount of resources they are hiring. From what I hear, they are paying more to. Take it for what its worth though because in business, anything can happen lol
btw- Welcome to Updates kwillett2000! I just noticed that was your first post :)
-

I am surprised and puzzled about that. I was new last year as well and did not get cut due to "money" issues. Maybe it was because I became third-in-charge at the coaster I worked at mid-summer. Hopefully this season will be better regarding "money" issues like Wade is saying.
-
MHRS, come over to the dark side. PS Red Polo crew WHAT WHAT! :D
-
Either there were a lot of re-hires without their paperwork today, or they got a pretty decent new hire turnout at today's job fair. They were really stressing today that things are going to be different this season. It's a very optimistic vibe flowing through the park management, and I hope that it turns contagious. I sure wouldn't mind the "Fun Time Flu" this summer. Or should it be "Playtime Pneumonia"? :D
-
Wish I lived closer. It would be a fun part time job. On the flip side, going to G.A. is always my break away from my full time job. If I work there, I am sure that it would not be the same thing.
-
If I had a Scion, I would drive the distance and see if I could get like a part time night job or something, but my V8 can be such a gas hog...:(
-
Peterpjr, the park was still my playground, even after working all day in it. If I had a day shift (and the energy), I'd leave a change of clothes in the car so I could change and play a little after work. I'd usually only be there for an hour or two, but a ride on El Toro puts a perfect cap on your day. :)
-
Im working there in merchandise I went yesterday which was Saturday it was jammed! I had to take a math test but I got the job I only live 30min away and there is a bus that takes u there 4 free!
-
Always glad to see another Gadv employee that sold their soul on Saturday, lol. I never took the bus, but I love it because without it I know I wouldn't have had some of my valuable team members last season. I wish they had a bus that came up my way.

It seems the job fair went very well and was very successful :) That doesn't mean they don't need even more people though!
-
Here is a list of various positions that are available - http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatadventure/Jobs/index.asp
-
I live outstide Philly so I think I would spend as much in gas money as I would get paid. It does sound like fun to work there though for a part time job.
-
Do you need to be invited to this job fair or what? George wants to know.
-
The purpose of a job fair is to get people to come to apply. I am quite certain you do NOT need to be invited! :)
-
^Bingo bango, get that man a Durango!
-
Hey hey. I was just the messenger. :P Ok so George and I will be heading down there. Chuck, you wanna meet up or what?
-
If you pick me up! :D
-
*bump*
Please continue getting the word out :)
-
After the job faire, I really would love to work at the park but it just has no advantage of me trying to leave Staples to go there. Plus I dont wanna cut my hair. :)
-
What are the rules about hair?
-
I don't have my handbook with me, but I believe the max is 4 inches from the scalp in length. Overlord is way outside of that, lol.
-
Is there a minimum length too, he asked curiously....
-
Nope no minimum length.
-
I am about...5 inches or so in length. But it does cover my ears majority of the time. :( Ladies or Six Flags? Thats what it comes down to.
-
No comment on the length lol
While I totally respect your decision Clint (hey you are only young once right!?!), I have to admit that I'm actually in favor of the rule. I suspect that depending on what you end up doing in life as you get older and career decisons come into play, your hair "may" have to go. Not always but many times, it does become a issue in certain trades. Hopefully you can find a career path that allows you to keep your lady locks ;)
Regardless, thanks for letting us know for others that may run into this post.
-
Overlord rocks the fro that I can't grow. lol I'm jealous.
-
Plus I am going off to college after this summer so I think the #1 idea here is to live it up before I ship off to college. Working two jobs would just burn me out so badly. But that cant stop me from hanging out with you guys after work. :) If anyone is thinking about joining the park and getting a job, be sure to atleast apply. They have amazing people this year and this season looks to be amazing.
-
Hey, who says you can't live it up during college? :P
-
Do you think the majority of the people who apply ask to be ride -ops ?
-
I think so^^ Im like the onli one doin merchandise ;)
-
While I feel alot of applicants go for rides, rides by the look of the job faire did not seem to have a huge advantage over any other department in the park. I guess no one liked the K'nex coaster of the Ride Dept compared to the flashy lighty mugs of Food Service. :)
-
Next time I'm at a fair I'll stand at the operations table with my pan and broom to attract all the ladies. lol
-RJ, who will never understand why he got hit on so much last sumer
-
I am not mistaken, wasnt the park services desk right next to the rides booth or was it on the other side of the room?
-
It's the same table
-
Employee's are wanted near and far
And things are going well
With all the applicants there currently are!
It takes more than 640 for the ride department to rely
And Six Flags is hiring those workers again from a great distance
They work great and are freindly folk, but sadly they will be gone
By early July!
-
Another poet! Looks like more fun this season.
-
Or perhaps the same one in different guise...
-
Time to check the IP. :) Even though I wont be at the park working, I will still be able to hang out with you guys at the parties, that is if Medieval decides to take me...
-
*bump*
Need to keep this one going :)
-
Man, after this weekend no one can say that we aren't trained well. I'm happy I don't have to go back for another round next Saturday like some do. They are definitely preparing us very well this year.

I agree with that rjholla...although I do have to go in next Saturday to get trained on the rides I work on myself and train other people at the same time. Gonna be tough the next few weeks helping mange the ride grouping and school, but once May rolls around it will be very easy. By the way if you have not applied yet strongly consider applying since it honestly is a great job in which you will learn a lot of skills in which you do not learn in the classroom such as working with a team and leadership skills.
-
This is really good news to hear :) I have a feeling these changes in training will be rather evident to us all ;)
-

I agree. I took a part time job at GAV this summer for the first time and have loved it.
-
I would have worked there years ago, but the 50 minute drive was just too far and the starting hourly wage was too low.

I do it at least two days a week with an hour and ten minute drive. I love working there.
